Ok, but specifically, the NA, 32 valve, 928S. I owned the 85 for about 13 years and loved it so much. Had a friend who owned the S4 and one day we were both out together with our cars. Neither of us were afraid to put our foot into it and after 3 stoplight races between our 2 cars, it was clear that my 85 was faster off the line than his 87 S4. As a very good mechanic on these cars, he speculated that the 928S might have had a more aggressive cam profile than the S4 allowing to be more "perky" from a dead stop over the S4. Never validated that but I still feel today the 1985, 928S had something that was a little different than the models before and after. Both cars were auto BTW so maybe it was even something in the gearing or final drive?

I just got an 83 Zermat silver 944 w cookie cutters. I drive a 2016 Cayman that is black with 20-in Carrera wheels, I've had a 73 Corvette 4 speed. A 600 SL. A convertible RS. Camaro. Etc But my new little toy the 1983-944 is giving me more thumbs up waves and honks and random people coming up to me at the gas station than any of the other cars. The vette did pretty good but the 944 is now being appreciated for how freaking cool it looks. Not how fast it is. Just style.

It was introduced in 1977 Geneva Motor Show, not in -71. Hp numbers are from US models, Rest Of World models has more hp.

The Porsche 928 and the Aston Martin Lagonda are what turned me in to a petrol-head. Design and engineering at its best.

Excellent video. Glad to see the false claim the 928 was supposed to replace the 911. The 928 was simply an addition to a manufacturer's lineup to appeal to a different marker of consumers.

No, it was to replace the 911. They were going broke and needed to do something with the cars. The company and the 911 were saved by this car. With more money in hand they then decided to further develop the 911 and keep it alive and keep the root after lots of outcry from people.
