I like hearing you narrate and chat a bit during the video! Maybe could consider a wireless lav mic so the wind noise is toned down a bit. V enjoyable watch tho :D
@walkingwithgreg2 ай бұрын
Thanks! Unfortunately the lav mics tone down everything and not just the wind so you get almost no ambient noise, which I do want to include when I'm not talking. Plus it makes loud noises worse (like ambulances) because they're the only things that pierce thru consistently. I probably could have it for just the portions that I speak and maybe turn it on and off when I want to speak? That's another layer of testing I'll have to do with my new night time setup. Previous setup didn't allow that so I didn't think to try it out before this shoot. Good idea
@jscalla2 ай бұрын
@@walkingwithgreg Innnnnnteresting, I hadn't thought of that. I wonder if you had a separate audio recorder from your phone, that way you can have both the lav-style mic for you talking but then also use the phone mic for ambient/background?

This is amazing footage. Thank you for sharing it. I grew up in Asheville. I moved away a few years ago. I wish I had spent more time exploring the River Arts District. This was a labor of love by artists and dreamers. How vibrant and beautiful it was. And so quiet and serene on the day that you were there. I know that something beautiful will grow there again, but it won't be the same. That's very sad.

@@allysonmurray1731 Well I guess I forgot to say I live in Wyoming. And since I moved here with my family in 1974. The Big Thompson Canyon, in Colorado, highway 34 has flooded twice. The last time in 2013, and it also flooded two towns downriver. So I think I do understand. In point of fact, during the rebuilding of highway 34 they moved part of it higher up on the canyon wall. Mother Nature loves messing up people's lives.

@@gpwcowboy I grew up there. My entire immediate family is still there. The artists and the dreamers took a bunch of empty dilapidated looking buildings and made it into a vibrant part of the Asheville experience. It wasn't built , it grew because they had a vision of what it could be. It has flooded before and they understand how to prepare for it. This was unprecedented flooding. You can't prepare for that.
