Good video. I do have the 50mm f2 but i don’t use it much. I had the Tamron 17-70 and its good for situations where you can’t easily change lenses. But I didn’t use it enough so i sold it and f2.8 is just not enough on apsc cameras for low light events. As for the two lenses you compare i have considered them but i have the sigma 56 f1.4 and the Viltrox 75 f1.2 and they cover my needs. I have considered changing the sigma 56 for the fuji 56 f1.2 but can’t justify the price yet but i would like the aperture ring on the fuji. But the sigma is light and compact with excellent image quality.

Thank you for the information on the tamron lens. I go back and forth between it and Fujis 16-55 for my main lens as I have a sigma 18-35 for now that’s great but heavy.

As well as all the points he made, I'd like to add the following. If anything, 2024 is a great time to buy the X-T5. 1. The X-T50 just dropped and unless your main concern is compactness, the X-T5 is the better buy (it has current offer where I live) and only 200 bucks more expensive than the X-T50. 2. After the numerous firmware updates since launch, the X-T5 has benefited from several additional features and improvements

Love this. I think that as you pointed out, with any art there is this constant gravity thing pulling us down into just sort of doing what works or what, “gets the job done”. Maybe it’s some combination of interruption and intentionality that brings us back - makes us weightless in a sense, less susceptible to that constant gravitational pull. Here for the work of finding tools and methods that make it new again.

I got into pro cameras in 2009 and had ff Nikon setup. 35 50 and 85 all f1.4. When I review those pictures, they are still stunning today. But in 2019 I sold all my gear to fund the Leica q2 which I adore. Recently picked up the x100vi and while I can’t let go of my q2 yet, as I got older, I found myself seeking a smaller and lighter camera because I simply wasn’t dragging the weight around. Even left the q2 on recent trip to Japan. My advice is, if you’re not using it, let it go and move onto one that will entice you to bring that “edc” one.

While I like having the color option, I’ve been taking a lot of b&w esp with the q2. The HIGH iso range of the monochrome blows the color leicas. It’s my understanding that monochrome iso 50k has zero noise.

I had a Brightin Star 35mm on my Xpro3 for awhile but I never liked how the XPro3 worked with OVF manual focusing. I only use the OVF and really never liked how the XPro3 manual focuses with a screen on the lower right. It seemed to unorthodox compared to center focusing rangefinder style. I went back to a AF lens, I bought the TTartisan 35mm AF and just use the OVF with the focus acquired box and just trust the camera is in focus. Ill leave manual lenses to my other cameras like my M240 or full time EVF like my Zfc.

No answers here unfortunately lol. I definitely understand and can relate to your thoughts though. Here are some things I do. Do POV, mount an action camera on your photo rig and focus on still photography and let the video capture that. To keep my sanity I don’t allow myself to dialog internally about what I want to say when I’m not on camera. Save it, write it down, audio record, but don’t let it occupy your mind in a negative way because it will. I’ve had 10,000 view videos and am quite proud of that. However, KZbin still slaps me with 30 view episodes. Working on KZbin is an art form for me. There are very few ways to share and meet other photographers these days. I applaud you getting out there and sharing 👏👏👏👏 It’s F’n hard to stick yourself out there!!! BTW, those 30 viewers are so important. Can’t say that enough. Focus your videos on them and keep on. Screw the algorithm bs. Take terrific photos instead.
