Lovely. The very kind of song that Karen would master. And she said how much she admired Bread, who fell in the same genre as Carpenters -- smooth soft rock/pop. Thanks for this.

a little heavy on the reverb, but sounds pretty real. Well done.

Admittedly, I was introduced to this musical by the movie, but seeing this performance has reignited my fondness for this show. I’ve always heard people singing Bette Midler’s praises for this, so I’d been looking for somewhere to watch it for myself. It’s a pity that she’s not doing it anymore, if what I heard is correct, as I hadn’t had a chance to see it live, but thankfully, someone uploaded a recording. Thank you to whoever uploaded this, you’ve helped me experience something I’d given up seeing.

It always seems to me that Richard Carpenter and Paul Williams were a great match.

Very interesting, especially since she once dated David Gates from Bread. But I wish it were perfect AI. One day it will get there. I can only tell from crazy fandom. For instance, even when she didn't sing "yew" for "you," these vocals of "you" are still too rounded for her. And the overall singing narrative for her was narrower because she held the mic so close to her mouth and sang so quietly. Etc. But thank you for this! It's fascinating to imagine.

How ignorant we the American public were back then. Lip syncing and the musicians not plugged in or matching the music! And yet we bought it and lived it

I think one thing that’s important for Karen Carpenter AI is including the background harmonies of her voice along with her brother Richard Carpenter. He was a brilliant music arranger. The background vocals of all their music included the voices of he and Karen overlapping to sound like a chorus of accompanying voices. This was a great selection for her range though. I really hope you’ll make more ❤

actually Neil Sedaka's voice is closest when applying The Karen Model to his songs ~ both were Pisces and sing very articulately

Probably the best AI of Karen to date. A wonderful song, but Richard should have recorded while listening to the AI track. The two tracks don't merge smoothly and his is a bit too loud.I've never heard this song before and think it is a gem.

First of all- she looks fabulous. However, this is post 1965 because she clearly already had a nose job. I preferred the "original " Lesley Gore but she looked great after the nose job too. Great performance. Her non-lipsynched TV performances are a treasure, no double track vocals. Just her fabulous voice out front to be heard as it was naturally.

Half of me thinks this not cool, the other half is thinking... what does Richard Carpenter think? Too bad she didn't have chance to sing this song when she was alive, and not A.I.. Great choice of song. Wish she and Richard did a version. With Richard's talent re- arranging it his way.
