@@AutomationCliff Yes but the oil on the left which is under the spilling threshold, how do it go to the right?
@AutomationCliff
@AutomationCliff Ай бұрын
@@radiateurfou185 sorry I understand what you are saying now. In a three-phase separator like this one, the interface between the water and oil is maintained. This is done by measuring the oil-water interface and then throttling the water valve - there will always be oil there in normal operation. If the feed starts to have more oil, more oil spills over the weir if the feed has more water, it will cause the interface to rise, but the automated water valve would open more to bring it back down. If an operator actually wanted to push all that extra oil over, they would have to raise the setpoint for the interface up, but they would risk spilling water over into the oil and the oil wouldn’t be as pure. This process is continuous. It has a constant oil-water-air mix fed into it and constantly produces separated oil, water and air. As more oil comes in, the oil you are concerned about will spill over and exit out the pipe on the right. I hope this makes more sense now.

The three threads of engagement for wrench-tight is approximate. Tighten until you have it facing the way you want it and with approximately 3 threads engaged from hand tight. Once you do it a few times and get a feel for it, it will make sense.

Hello, I need to communicate the InductiveAutomation scada Ignition software with a DeltaV DCS with MD Processors and Software Version 9. Which do you think would be the best way
@AutomationCliff
@AutomationCliff 6 ай бұрын
I haven’t done this before, but if I was asked to do this I would look into using a DeltaV OPC server to provide the data to Ignition. I’m sure this has probably been done before, so I would contact Inductive Automation and Emerson for some guidance on the best way to do this. DeltaV Books Online probably has information on configuring the OPC server and Inductive Automation probably has information on connecting to an OPC server on their website. Good luck!

Would you power down the whole PLC to replace a module? I have a bad RTD module and have to replace it. Allen Bradley doesn't have a power button like a Siemens PLC does. I have replaced a Siemens but not on an Allen Bradley. Thanks in Advance.
@AutomationCliff
@AutomationCliff 8 ай бұрын
The modules are hot-swappable on the ControlLogix series. Confirm in the documentation, but you should be able the change the card out with the PLC powered up. If the PLC is controlling a live process make sure to connect to it with Studio 5000 and check the module isn’t configured to fault the controller when it is disconnected. Otherwise, if you feel more comfortable doing a shutdown, you can power off the PLC by opening in the door on the power supply and using the power switch to power it down.

Will you be able to accurately measure oil volume and water volume separately? Also can it remove crude oil from water properly like uhhhh- it’ll fully separate the two
@AutomationCliff
@AutomationCliff Жыл бұрын
There is no online water-cut analyzer on this trainer, so I’m not sure the exact amount of water left in the separated oil. I would estimate it still has about 10% water. In industry a demulsifier chemical will be injected into the feed and the vessel will be heated to about 30-40 C to increase separation. This will get the water cut to 1% or less. The separated oil is then stored in a storage tank and same with the water. The water is injected back into the ground with an injection pump and typically metered with a turbine flow meter. The oil is often trucked or pumped out and metered with a positive displacement flow meter. The volumes are determined by these flow meters.

I have a model 4195KAME remote setpoint adjustment my question is can I move the setpoint by hand like what you did in this video??
@AutomationCliff
@AutomationCliff Жыл бұрын
I haven’t used a 4195 with a remote setpoint adjustment before. The manual it says the ‘M’ designates the remote set point option. It says it has a capsular element with a linkage to the set point indicator. You need to apply pressure to the capsular element to adjust the setpoint. Increasing pressure to the element increases the setpoint and decreasing pressure decreases the setpoint. Based on this information I would assume you would not be able to adjust the setpoint indicator like I did in this video unless you were able to disconnect the linkage between the setpoint indicator and the capsular element. If you cannot disconnect the linkage, you would have to move the indicator by applying pressure to the capsular element.

Can you please help me to know.. what is the reason of offset error in ph sensor calibration... And how to fix it
@AutomationCliff
@AutomationCliff Жыл бұрын
This could be due to a bad pH sensor. The sensor should produce ~0 mV in a solution with a pH of 7 and a slope of ~59.16 mV/pH on pH levels above that. When you do a calibration and the offset is out of the +/- 60 mV limits it will throw an error. You can adjust the limits on a Rosemount 1056, but you should be cautious, because the sensor could actually be bad.

Ideally you would want the device you are controlling - e.g. control valve - to be at 50 % during normal operation. That way if a disturbance occurs the valve has the ability to go 50 % open or 50 % closed. In reality this normal operation isn’t right a 50 %.

Hi clifford Long ,Hope ur doing Good , Could U please brief about What is IMAN mode and How it occurs and how it can be avoided
@AutomationCliff
@AutomationCliff Жыл бұрын
IMAN stands for Initialization Manual. A function block will go into this mode if there is a problem with a downstream block or a link to it. For example, a DeltaV PID block will goes into IMAN if the BACKCAL_OUT parameter on the downstream block is not connected to the BACKCAL_IN parameter on the PID, or the downstream block is sending a ‘Bad’ quality or ‘Not Invited’ status over the link. You can check the diagnostics on the PID block for corrective action.
