I use it when I can get it. unfortunately there weren't any bait shops in the area. Or much of anything for that matter. I do look for them along the route on Google maps and pick up bunker when I can.

@thelostcircus8601 I'm working on finding more spots in NJ. I started doing this because I wanted to start crabbing last year but had no idea where to go. I have a few places marked but I only have Google maps to go from. Each week I'm gonna try a new place or return to and old place to give it a second chance. That way you can see in (sort of) real time exactly what to expect. I'll try to include as much info as possible. What facilities are there, what the area is like, how crowded it is or can be, how far away is the parking, etc. I've only started a few weeks ago so there's not many spots posted. But, life permitting, I should be posting a new spot each week and will be heading to a new spot tomorrow to see what its like. Look for the video Monday or Tuesday, depending on how long editing takes. TLDR: I'm only really familiar with the spots I've posted videos about.

there was a cleaning station at this place but it was mostly being used as a rod stand and drink table. Fish markets are good too. They sometimes filet the fish for customers and will sell the rest as bait.

It might. I could try it. I have a BBQ injector i use for smoking brisket. I could try that.

If you do check it out let us know if you catch anything. I only saw tons of mud minnows and whatever it was that I managed to hook. It would be interesting to see how someone that actually knows what they are doing can do.

We need to find places near Houston to crab. Someplace that has close parking, bathrooms and not too crowded. Maybe someone here can give some suggestions. A place like green street park in NJ would be perfect.

It was a decent spot to crab. Parking only a few feet away. Only thing missing was a bathroom. 😁

I’ve noticed I was catching a lot more closer to the shoreline. Near where that drain pipe thing is. There are definitely crabs there but they would come and go like they moved around in groups. I’d catch 3 or 4 during one pull, then nothing for the next 3 pulls.

@@slingshot3238 Yeah, the crabs there are surprisingly smart or probably full from all the crabbers there lol

I’ve only got one with eggs this season. I try not to take females though. Sometimes they slip through though.

@@slingshot3238sorry for the misspelled word it put down love I'm using the recording I want you talk quick spells the wrong words yeah but I'm right across the river from you and I was picking them up like an hour and a half I stood there Dan when a Todd was going out getting low I was picking up pregnant crabs I'll see what happens this coming Sunday

@@slingshot3238 and a good thing about exchange place fear where I where I went the Blue Cross of five 5 1/2 sometimes 6 from point to point so now since I live on Staten Island I'm catching blue crab up the ying yang small ones big ones and pregnant ones

I remember the greenheads being out of control when I was there years ago. I picked a few cans of Repel Max just in case but I guess it's still early for them. It might be an early/late season spot only.

There are so many areas that look like they would be great places to crab and fish around there. Only problem is finding the ones that are accessible. Thanks for the sub!

I didn't see any. Just a few of those gnat/no-see-um like things. I remember they were there when I was younger, so either township got rid of them or they come later in the summer.

@thandastones888 The bugs weren't much of a problem at all while I was there. It was way too windy on the bridge. There are actually a lot of places to crab down there but Turkey Point was the only place I remember. I know there are spots in Dividing Creek, Beaver Dam and Fortescue and probably many more. I was thinking of starting a list with names, addresses and GPS coordinates. GPS coordinates because some of these places don't really have addresses and the exact spots can be hard to find.

Fortescue is a great area! I remember renting the crabbing boats near Beaver Dam and going out on the Ms. Fortescue. I’m glad you enjoyed watching. I’m hoping to have many more to come. The crabs and spaghetti came out great! I’ve been eating it for 3 days now.

They are good traps and much wider then the usual round ones.

Everyone needs time to enjoy life and recharge the mental batteries! It's not always easy but sometimes you just need to force yourself to do it. If you do go out post where you went and how you did!

Depending on where you are in Maryland you could be just as close to Fortescue as I am. Keep trying though. As long as your enjoying yourself then it's still a win in my book!

@@philipplouden5892 I don’t think people realize that their secret spots probably aren’t as secret as they think. Once upon a time maybe, but Google maps makes it easier to find.

Lol! That beach area was packed. It was a bit of a challenge just driving past there. They don't leave you much room.

I don’t keep many fish, not that I actually catch many fish, except flounder. Love flounder, especially crab stuffed flounder. I’ll have to look more around the AC area to find where you’re talking about. I only know those little bridges because I went there a lot many years ago. Back when the Brigentien Castle and pier existed. The ice is actually a new thing I’ve been trying. I get a lot less die off than I used to. Still searching for the best, definitive way to keep them alive and survive the long trip home. I tried many different ways. This way actually works really well. It’s actually 2 buckets stacked together with the top bucket having drainage holes drilled in it. The water drains into the bottom bucket so the crabs aren’t sitting in ice water. I’ll try ice on the bottom though and see what happens. Thanks!

@@slingshot3238 drill holes in ur bucket about 2 or 3 inches from bottom for drainage in 4 spots ( 90° apart or at 3,6,9&12 on the clock ) on ur bucket , I find a 5/8" or 3/4" hole works just fine for this

@@thandastones888 I'll need to make sure to go there in September. What do you use for bait to catch snapper? I was trying minnows, squid and frozen shrimp last weekend but I guess I'm a bit early.

@@slingshot3238 There will be old timers in that place catching bait, like spearings with a net. They would gladly give anyone fishing. Nice folks. That’s what we ended up using. Live spearings.

@@slingshot3238 Nice, hopefully you do well. I'd recommend just tying a chicken leg on a string and just netting them. It seems to work better than the traps for some reason.

@@rumdab I agree. Stringing is a lot faster. I tried it a long time ago but I had a problem pulling the string and netting them with one hand. Maybe I'll give it another try. Need to buy a new net. One that is telescopic so it will fit in the Challenger.

As bait? I’ll try anything if it will catch more crabs. 🦀

It was frozen. In my opinion the bunker works a little better than the chicken but it gets torn apart quickly, especially if there are turtles in the area. They will still go after the chicken but they have a more difficult time ripping it apart. Also, chicken drumsticks are much cheaper. So what works better isn’t necessarily the better bait. I would stick with drumsticks.
