Put some distortion on and see how fast that Epiphone times out.The Gibson will hold a note for days

The Gibson was louder and deeper sounding. If the amp settings were unchanged, then the Gibson pickups are more efficient.

Gibson did have a sort of pleasing hollow chime to it, the Epi had a more non-complex tone, while almost identical in the overall tone.

Not worth worrying about. When music CDs first appeared my mates bought a state of the art sound system and invariably listened to the likes of jive bunny and the master mixers all night. The quality of what is put in dictates what comes out .

1300 for an epiphone Les Paul Standard seems crazy pricing it wasn't long ago it was around 350 to 500 at the most for an Epi Les Paul standard Plus top.

While there may be a subtle difference, and preference matters: At this price point, you're not paying for sound. The Gibson will generally have a higher bulld quality, be easier to play, and be easier to service than the Epiphone.

Not sure if it was the amp, pedal or the guitar itself but the second one seems a little muddy

Gibson uses standard and Epis use metric. Selector switch, tail piece studs, Both pots might be metric but Epis have a smaller shaft dia.

WOW. First time I've thought they were close. However, the best Epiphone has sounded, but the highest they've been priced right?

The Gibson is ever so slightly warmer but honestly you're better off with the epiphone, better bang for your buck. That said is rather go for a $1300 PRS or an Ibanez than the same priced epiphone les paul.
@noblemonye58012 күн бұрын
A pro could use either... without a back to back comparison you wont hear the difference in a mix with other instruments.

1300 for an epiphone... I remember when you wouldnt even pay that for some of their masterbuilt series. This is slowly getting more and more ridiculous
@kristacompton411914 сағат бұрын
I'm right. I remember seeing a studio Gibson Les Paul for 1300 back in the early 2000s and I thought that was high. Epiphones where like mid hundreds usually.

Yeah a guy I used to jam with in the late 90s had a beautiful Epiphone Les Paul. Quilted maple top, sunburst, mother of pearl binding. Amazing finish, really nice tone. It wasn't just an entry level Epiphone. It was a really nice one. He bought it new, circa 1999, for £399 (about $517 at time of writing). I remember that distinctly. I know there's inflation, but it seems to me that Epiphones now are expensive guitars, and the equivalent Gibsons _really_ expensive. Epiphones used to be accessibly priced. Doesn't seem to be the case anymore. 😔

@ChristopherStendeck i got my epi LP plus top pro for around 400€ in 2016. Beautiful guitar, well built, doubt the 1300 $ one in the video tops it much if any in quality

the gibson had more strong tone, while ephiphone sounded a little more ambient but it wasn't the same thing played both times. Ephiphone sounded a little more soothing. gibson had some harsh notes,.. but hard to know if it was the guitar or the person playing it.

The second one had a more flat sound to it. The sound of the last note was not as clear but that could have been finger placement. But over all they are both great sounding instruments.
