You will not get much of a shock from my install as its only 68~70V VOC, even with wet hands its much safer..The current is higher so more cable runs are needed, but fire and tracking and arcing is dramatically reduced. Its the same with the battery, it can also catch fire, keep in a fire proof box outside. Do not use Lithium batteries of any kind, they are too expensive and dangerous. Use AGM, 32kwh bank costs about $5.5k u will get 2000 - 3000 cycles with 25% discharges SOC, almost as good lithium, but way cheaper.
@bjtaudio2 күн бұрын
My solutions are 1 install the isolator or dc breaker in a metal combiner box outside the house on a brick wall, so the fire has nothing too burn other than the switch. 2. Keep the total VOC below 120VDC, no more hazardous DC voltages 200~600Vdc on residential installs. 2 Instead wire 2 or 3 panels in series and then group them in parallel, and have a dc cable run for each group to a metal combiner box outside the house. 3. No rooftop isolator needed. 4. Install a 48V off grid system. 5. do not grid tie anymore, as feed in tariffs are no longer viable.

Hey mate. You ever end up figuring out what happened to this system? I’ve got a Fronius that’s throwing the same 475 on one of the two strings going into it. Seems to happen late in the evenings or early in the mornings. More likely to happen during wetter times. Went up and visually inspected everything can’t see anything wrong.

Ongoing warranty claim with QCells, I am certain its an earth fault due to water ingress on mc4 plugs due to being exposed to weather. Yours sounds very similar!

The panels don't run at their maximum current, thats directly proportional to the irradiance. They tend to run at maximum voltage. If you add optimisers or micro inverters then the opposite becomes true.

I would have thought the inverter would have had to be installed outside to help cool it with natural convention. How would it go in that shed in summer with everything shut up. Would that cause issues?
@joondalupelectricalservice32017 күн бұрын
The heat does derate them a little, if that wall had direct sun on the back of it then yes it could be an issue in Summer for sure.

Great video! Unrelated question: are you able to install a generator-input-powerpoint (male, like on the outside of a caravan, say 15A not 32A) _inside_ a house, instead of inside? Reason I ask is incase there's an outage and a portable-power-station (battery & inverter) is available inside the house to deliver 240v AC power (instead of a generator outside.)
@joondalupelectricalservice320111 күн бұрын

@@joondalupelectricalservice3201 instead of outside*. Yeah I guess the transfer switch would need to stay outside / next to the panel. I've done 10kW inverter power with 30kWh of battery with 10kW of panels for $15k for an off grid property. Growatt inverters, not over stressed by too much solar, 51.2V batteries LiFePo4. I run a 15amp storage hot water and I've ran an electric welder no worries. Where does the insane cost come from?! Literally a 15kW inverter and solar system with 50kWh of batteries you should never need grid power again. It is such a rort what we have been sold in Australia!
