Can't believe people still claim that the skydive never happened at all, not having enough 'smarts' to know that the skydive DID actually happen, just that it was from a helium balloon in the stratosphere and NOT 'space' as misleadingly claim in the video. If YOU actually had any 'smarts' you'd have also informed everyone in your comment, that the distorted and exaggerated appearance of the earth in the footage was caused by using GoPro cameras to do the recording, which are fitted with distorting wide-angle lenses.

The earth is a spherical planet - that is not even up for debate. However, if a flat earther were to ask what has caused the earth to appear THIS round and distorted in the footage, what would your explanation be?

You also find Felix' entries there for his balloon flight to and skydive from 39 km and the speed record. And BTW also the entry from Alan Eustace's jump from 41 km (he broke Felix record two years later). What would you say if you just read that by accident? How do you decide which of the records in the list are true and which not? When you read the Guinnes Book of records, how do you decide which entries are real and which not? I guess all scientists, aerospace engineers, pilots, professional skydivers... in the world, they all have no problem with this jump and accept that it happened. Why should Joe Kittinger (the guy who is talking to him; the former record holder who jumped frorm 31km in 1960) , Felix Baumgartner (he held some skydiving records before), Red Bull,... risk their reputation? You think the World Airsports Federation was bribed? Please use common sense. It would be just not logical that this was all a giant hoax. I read in my Guinnes Book of records 1995 that Joe Kittinger jumped from 31 km in 1960 and reached 988 km/h. There was not even a picture in that book. What you feel down here is air that hits you with high speed - but there is no air in space. Felix here did not jump from space, but the air density at his altitude already is less than 1% compared to sea level. That is the reason why he could become so fast in the first place. As a normal skydiver you don't become faster than about 200 km/h, because that is terminal velocity for a human body down here. It is the speed where the drag force becomes equal to gravitational force. But when the air is thinner, the terminal velocity is higher - but still "drag = gravity" counts. So the pressure on your body is always the same at terminal velocity, no matter if it is 200 km/h or 1200 km/h. ",also on that speed if you start to rotate like this guy you have to little chance to recover,also you will pass away,no way to stay awake" He said he nearly passed out. But as I said, he is experienced, you have seen other of his stunts? He also served in the miltary. "also deploing parashute is not so soft,it hits you hard" I don't think that it looks "soft" here. It wa 4min20seconds of free fall and 5 minutes with the parachute. However, like always with comments like this, I wonder if you even tried to do some research, or if the video here is the only basis for your comment. It is not hard to google. Have you read for example at least the wikipedia article about this jump? Have you been on the official website? Have seen other news sources who reported about this, other short video about this (for example all the official ones includion preparation on the Red Bull channel etc.) ? Have you seen it live back then? (the stream held the record for the youtube live stream with most viewers for many years; I heard of people who watched it in together in school class).

@@darjantosich I don't want say that you have to believe anything because it is on TV or written in a book. And that is not what I do. But you have to deal with reality and use common sense and logic. Do you really think, that only the events that you have witnessed with your own eyes in person, definitly happened, while ALL OTHERS could be fake? I don't think that you live like that, that would be stupid. You could not go through life with such a "Everything could be fake" mindset, and I am sure you don't do that. And in this case: There is absolutly no reason to fake it, it would not make to create such a hoax, how should that work? So do you think that the jumps by Joe Kittinger (RIP, passed away in December), who was a brave military pilot, didn't happen? I did not mention the Records list of the FAI to say "If it is written there, then it 100% must be real", but I wonder if you would be also be so sceptical when you would only read it there and not seen the video.

@@darjantosich Sorry pal, but the skydive did actually happen, as shown in the footage. He hasn't really jumped from space of course, but from a helium balloon in the stratosphere. Apparently, your previous skydiving experience hasn't helped in any way, with regards to understanding what was shown in the footage.

My comment was intended to highlight your misconception and false belief that this skydive was actually from space. He's jumped from a helium balloon at an altitude of 39 km (24 miles) which is from within the layer of the atmosphere known as the stratosphere. Space doesn't officially start until a height of 100 km (62 miles), so the used of the word 'space' in the video title and description is completely wrong and misleading, but obviously, quite a few people have been easily fooled into thinking that this skydive was actually from space, you being one of them. Did you seriously think that a helium balloon can leave the earth's atmosphere and go up into space?

It's no great secret that GoPro cameras with distorting wide-angle lenses were used to record the footage? These are the same distortions that you'll see in any video containing footage that's been recorded using these types of cameras.

@@tundratiger9473 The reference to 'space' in this video is NOT an 'analogy' for a 'slow free fall'. You really are an ignorant fool. The point is, that the reference to 'space' should have never been made, for the simple fact that this skydive was from the stratosphere and nowhere near 'space'.
