Hi there iv just got the skymax 180mm can you tell me the best diagonal is for this term please thanks
@SkyWatcherUSA2 күн бұрын
I usually use a 2" TeleVue Everbrite diagonal for my scopes. Even when I was getting started many of my friends recommended the Everbrites. I have never had an issue with it and have used it for years even on the 180 Mak. The views have always been excellent. I would say any good quality dielectric would be fine. If you can swing it, try to go with one that has a good mirror in is like the TeleVue, AP or others like that so you know the quality you are paying for. -Kevin

I'm right eye blind. Viewing on my flextube 250P is uncomfortable with my viewing chair. A diagonal would give me more room. The 250P has two fl positions 1200 and (what is the shorter fl)? Will the shorter fl allow me to use a diagonal? With an f ratio of 4.7, I assume (from what I've learned here) that a mirror diagonal is what I should get.

It is not so much the focal length, it is the limited focus travel that Newtonians have. You could try to shorten the tube down to the lower binoviewer position and see how that works.

Why doesn’t Sky-Watcher sell the weights for the SA GTI? When you look into the forums and social media groups a common topic is where to buy additional weights to balance out the mount. I have a Askar 65PQH with a Nikon D7200 and I can get it close to being balanced with the provided weights but when I install the 0.75x Reducer, I can’t achieve balance. Either include more weight with the mount or allow people to buy additional weight without jury-rigs.

The Esprit 150 has such a good optic that any eyepiece works. My lenses range from around 40mm down to 2.3mm and the 150 (depending on seeing conditions) can use them all. For a quick cover though something like a 30mm for wide, 15 to 17mm for middle and then maybe a nice 7mm to start. Depending on your needs you can fill in the gaps in between that you prefer. There is no difference between the colors. The early models has the red coloring and the newer ones have the green but nothing else changed. Everything now that is new is green, if you are seeing red (unless its used) will be green when you get it. It sounds like the website showing it has not updated their pictures. Hope this helps. -Kevin

As an owner of the Wave 150i a question on a future pier build. So, I am thinking about pouring myself a concrete pier that can hold this Wave 150i mount and hold my smallest scope being the Redcat 51 and at this very day the biggest being the Esprit 120ED. There are ideas to add in the future a fair size newtonian scope as well. Given the smaller size compared to the EQ6R-Pro so I wonder what max diameter you advice for the concrete pier to ensure no parts hit the pier in any position. Thank you for your insight already (y)
@SkyWatcherUSA25 күн бұрын
If you are pouring a concrete pier and mounting a plate on top I would probably aim for at least a 6" (150mm) diameter. Though if it were me, to future proof yourself incase you want to go bigger maybe an 8" (200mm) diameter. It depends on how you are making your pier though. Are you pouring a footer and then placing a metal pier on the footer or are you doing a solid concrete pier all the way to your mount head? -Kevin

@@SkyWatcherUSA thank you Kevin for the answer. I am planning to pour a solid concrete pier with a stainless steel disc on top with a second plate that shall hold the mount. I know I am super late with this comment, but thank you for covering this video topic! I live in a city in a small apartment so this is all very relevant to me. I am limited to a 15lb max rig that can fit in a backpack and thought I would find a community on the web. But since starting, I found that so much of how people online talk about this hobby is by way of observing deep space objects through crazy astrophotography equipment and, of course, big ol' dobs. All that is interesting and I am learning a lot about the hobby, but it is not useful to me as an urban stargazer who is limited to minimal gear and trips up/down flights of stairs for any stargazing session. This video, however, keeps things simple, sets expectations, offers a "slow" approach to astronomy which I love, and reignites my excitement to go outside and look at the moon. Thanks for this and keep up the good work!

I hope this isn’t a project that gets canned before it goes into production as I’m hanging on at the moment as I like my Skywatcher 80 ED refractor and EQ6 equatorial mount and tripod, but I’ve not got to grips with astrophotography so I’m really hoping for a smart telescopes from Skywatcher that can replace my setup with an Atik CCD 460EX colour camera.
