Segerstam passed away October 9 2024 at age of 80. His 344 symphonies, world biggest numbers of the works, are my favorite, although have not listened to his all works yet.

The composer died today, and I wanted to find out what kind of music a composer who wrote 371 symphonies sounds like. Modular synthesizer music must be the leading edge of classical music. It only lacks sheet music.

With respect to Mahler, but is it just me who is expecting a finale with chorus to the last note?

horrible from the very beginning , Gergiev is an excelent conductor for russian composers NOT FOR MAHLER ,

Sulla base di quali riflessioni lei scrive queste stronzate?
@tonysimon39173 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, I cannot help feeling that some comments here are more politically than artistically motivated. Gergiev's artistic qualities are widely acknowledged, nor can I recall a conductor who has had a festival in his honour for twenty-five years (in Rotterdam, with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra) and conducted it himself during his lifetime. The festival, incidentally, stopped because of Gergiev's refusal to distance himself from the invasion of Ukraine. On the views of his friend Putin, to which and to whom he shows unquestioning loyalty, we can certainly set up a discussion. As for this performance (from 2015, i.e. well before the invasion), I think there is a deep emotion behind it, as we know Gergiev, who always conducts emotionally and expressively (as also Leonard Bernstein, for instance). Personally, I can appreciate this, there are those who loathe it. In any case, let's try to listen and judge with respect. It is precisely disrespect that leads to the very acts for which we now condemn Putin (and with him Gergiev). I myself do not wish to descend to that level.

Ma stia zitto! In Francia Gergiev e la Mariinsky sono sempre stati osannati. Ma le stupidaggini che scrive sono forse il frutto di una mente distorta?

The performance was broadcasted on January 25th, 1974, but it was recorded a month earlier on December 18th, 1974. Late December, 1974 was a very busy period for Genesis. They did two shows on the 17th, three on the 18th (one of which is this performance) and another two on the 19th. Phenomenal band.

Peter in his full glory, a little over the top, no a lot over the top, but he was pushing the boundaries and that eventually led to the band's break up.
@ianpritchard63758 ай бұрын
? Peter left and Phil took over vocals. Bill Bruford et al played drums for them. Was it a break up?
@garylake16768 ай бұрын
@@ianpritchard6375 I feel it was a breakup Genesis without PG and SH was a very different beast, I was being sardonic, or attempting to be. I quite liked Trick and Wind, Seconds Out with I recall Sturmer and Thompson on Guitar and Drums were outstanding, but for me, the band were no longer Genesis, they were the Phil Collins Side Show. I don't recall BB drumming for them, what period was that? SH has the best Genesis band now, really good versions of the songs he was involved with.

Listening/watching this again for about the 20th time. No words can describe how extraordinary Grubinger's technique/musicianship is. I'm also struck by the white floor stage surrounded by the audience in black - very dramatic. Also the truly excellent camera work (which seems quite rare these days). The work is as amazing as ever.
