Chris cheats on Ade in season 1 with that girl that introduces him to Favreau. We see them have pillow talk multiple times. Off the top of my head the only other examples im thinking of are just him being visibly interested in other women, but i never got the impression he has a moral issue with his own infidelity.

I’m not a huge fan of “Rojava”. What they should have done is that after the defeat of ISIS they should have made a deal with the Assad government instead of behaving as proxies for the United States. Incredibly bad idea to make yourself into a US proxy.

the realy fucked up part is that this movie was a literal prophecy and we all ignored it for what is now almost two decades and its been comming true since before the movie was out, i remember back way then we would sit and smoke and talk about that movie and someone had this to say and other had that, and then we just went on drinking our beer

In 1.54 we see theo walking in flip flops in the mud and debris. This kind of shoes poses a problem for him to fight with Syd for example as his right flip-flop comes off the embarrassed Theo, throws it away and is content to continue the film barefoot. and hurts his foot on glass.

Hey guys, just wanted to say that I stumbled across this show a few days ago, through Chapo, and I've listened to at least 20 episodes so far. I'm an insomniac and recently unemployed, so I've got nothing but time on my hands. This is some excellent pod, and one of the quickest fandom conversions I've ever had. Thanks so much for the quality content. Keep it up.

Why I think they got cut: 1st scene: Meant to show Theo's precarious financial situation, which is not needed as it's implied strongly enough by his reaction to being offered money by Julien. It's my fav tho because I do like the world building here though, the landlord appears to be a middle manager, and the hypocrisy of having expensive housing when the population is collapsing. Theo also having coupons for electricity is interesting. 2nd scene: I think this was cut because it was making the existing points about the art becoming meaningless a bit too heavy handed. This movie is so good at not underlining the points it's trying to make, and this scene extension may have just gone a bit too far. 3rd Scene: Done probably to characterize Theo as a good guy. I can see why it was cut, as it's a bit superfluous with his other actions from the film, and we already have views into the shanty towns. And those other views are done with a more sophisticated cinematic language--having the camera independently investigate them. this scene sort of betrays that earlier brilliant cinematography by having Theo get directly involved with the suffering around him.

I love how much people get out of this movie. There are more allusions to classical works of art than you might have picked up on. Everything in the Ark of the Arts has a partner somewhere else in the movie; Guernica with the bombing of Bexhill at the end, Banksy with all the Human Project graffiti around (which you see the gov't painting over at a few points). David, I think, is meant to pair with Theo bludgeoning Syd to death.

The Jelqer wanting to watch the world burn is a dismissal of his motives projected onto him by a semiretired monarchist hitman turned billionaire heir turned fascist vigilante handler. If we're going to credit Nolan with being a brilliant storyteller who understands subtext, we need to actually look at the subtext and not just take every statement made by the characters as gospel-true authorial commandments. Fun show, though, you've got my sub.

i think Better Call Saul was better than Breaking Bad. My guess is he didnt get past the first season, the best part of that show is season 3-6. it must be so tiring to have to over analyze everything and not just be able to enjoy it. Ya it has some easter eggs in the form of finding out how Hector ended up in the chair and where the Saul persona came from. Where breaking bad was the transformation of Walter from wimp to drug kingpin, BCS is watching a shitty person fight to be respectable but ultimatly failing and just sinking deeper into the person he already was. You find Jimmy at the start of the show trying to better himself, but through flashback you find he was this scammer, shitbag. Apart from the Gene Tacovic parts, you realize he is that scammer shitbag until Kim redeams him. Walt tries to redeem himself by saving jesse but its too late. Not for Jimmy though

I think that "The Matrix: Resurrections" has a Jasper-like character. It's Jada-Pinkett Smith ("Niobe"? I think that's her name). She has resigned, from the struggle to her little garden, fatally compromised, in despair, growing her berries - basically a GenX version of the "old, obscene, impotent retired Hippie-person". I suspect one could write a short piece about the dialogue between the two films. Matrix 4 may have been a bad film, but it was interesting, it made some good theoretical points. Both Children of Men & Matrix 4 can be approached through the lens of Capitalist Realism (ofc Mark Fisher took care of 50% of that for us, legend that he was. RIP). Call it "When Theo met Neo" (no don't, God that's silly...but still, I had to it's like poetry it rhymes)

i just wish filmmakers didn't feel the need to bust out the wigs - this character is an old hippie, get a silly wig on him! if he doesn't have long hair, nobody will believe Michael Caine as an old hippy, acting on it's own can't possible cut it, we need a stupid long hair wig that doesn't look or move anything like real hair does lest people be unable to suspend their disbelief!
