Cool plane. I loved the film Murphy's war, staring Peter O'Toole and the duck.

great job... but as a pilot, I don't see how this is legal in any country...

It's legal I was the instructor it's a single pilot citation M2.

@@scotturschel4439 cool I don't know much about the FAA rules, but is he considered a passenger or a student pilot in that case? if he's a student pilot, can you just get your Citation type rating without any PPL or CPL in the States?
well done. zGreat job teaching him Scott!! #legend

I had the pleasure of flying with Richard on several test missions, conducting a noise measurement test on a Hughes 500, early 1980's. He flew the 500 up to NASA Ames (Moffett Field CA) from LA. The idea was to change the tail rotor configuration and gear ratio (RPM alteration) to see if any noise improvement resulted. I was a Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer at Ames, had some flying duties on a few aircraft, and was always eager to go airborne. The actual testing was accomplished at our remote test facility at Crows Landing Naval Auxiliary Landing Field in the California central valley. As I recall we had ground based acoustic data acquisition system(s) as well as some flights with our YO-3A acoustic data gathering aircraft. Fun guy to fly with, he had a lot of good stories, and a hell of a pilot (did a few things that surprised me!!).

It looks better than new, the Grumman duck was the star of the movie Murphy's War with Peter O'Toole. Worth a watch ,if you get a chance.

Not very smart to be flying over water without a float kit. Nice chopper, though. I flew the military version back in the day.

I've known Rich for 20+ years. He is truly an amassing person. Like Scott wrote -- he is a humble quiet professional. Thanks Scott for posting the short video.

Richard A. Lee FAA DPE WP-07-68 administered my Private Pilot Rotorcraft-Helicopter Practical Test on 7-12-2001 and my Commercial Pilot Rotorcraft-Helicopter Practical Test on 07-21-2001. He then took time to show me some unforgettable, amazing piloting in my MD500E. The most superlative pilot I've ever shared a cockpit with.

why the loud music, which has nothing to do with this old Beauty from times past. The sound of the B&W radial engine would have been much more fitting. But You-like so many other KZbinrs-seem to have no confidence in the power of your film without this crappy background noise.

I flew the camera helicopter a Bell L4 and Bruce Haffner (Chopper Guy) was the cinematographer using a Cineflex with a Red Dragon shot in 8k. To shoot the landing I flew reverse formation through a monitor as Kelly Mahon made his approach to touchdown on tbe lake. 🚁😎

My grandfather Richard Jones Gilmore from Yuciapa, Ca owned a Waco-9 airplane. I enjoyed the stories and photos of his flight days. He loan his plane to friend and he crashed it, I think the carburetor had a vapor lock. the friend was killed. Today all is left is the prop and instrument panel a few Waco Co books, and my granddads boots, helmet and goggles. These are some of my most cherished possessions.

I see you pull the propeller lever forward before touchdown but others on KZbin pull it forward after touchdown. Can you please tell me what is the correct way?
@xillerrodriguez4 жыл бұрын
I don't fly the KA, but I would assume prior to touchdown is correct. In a time crunch and in need of a go-around, you want to only have to push the throttles up and focus on the climb
@Supra17282 жыл бұрын
From training it was taught to be full forward but some pilots would leave it until touchdown for passenger comfort. For go around take off and reverse it has to be full forward
I really enjoyed watching this clip! 👍🏼 The BO-105 is worldwide the most known Aerobatic - Chopper but I am pretty sure that one of the MD500 Versions are absolutely perfect for this sport , if it’s a "tuned-version" like the Little Bird!. I would love to see the MD-🚁 doing flips, barrel rolls and so on! ... Red Bull have absolutely enough money to realize it. Please try to get a sponsorship!!! With kindest regards from a huge MD500🚁 - Fan🤙🏼‼️
