Another idea for material for the rings is those plastic yard sale signs. Sturdier then cardboard yet still easy to cut with a sharp utility nice. You can also purchase sheet styrene at most hobby ships.

Good morning ! Believe it or not, about 11 pm last night just before I went to bed, I took a flashlight and shined it / shone it on another little baggie of the same seeds, and I could see 1 of the seeds that had germinated ! ---- and these were started off the night before.... so about 26 hours or so before...... insane LOL. I had started off those hybrid seeds as a little test, and then was looking at notes and I thought to myself, I think I should start off some more seeds as in 2 weeks from now our weather is going to be much nicer than it is now..... so got those going. Yeah those seeds are great. P.S. they do not need pollination from bees, - so they produce like crazy ! So this means every single flower you see starting up will produce a cucumber. Anyway sorry for the long reply Steve ! Thanks so much for watching ! 😊

Hi Joe ! I've added in nutrients to it for hydroponics. There are so many out there on the market to choose from, and you only add a tiny bit into a gallon of water. ( 1 teaspoon per gallon ) I'm having really amazing growth with all my plants with it. So all the hydroponics stuff I'm doing uses this water / nutrient, but also I'm adding it to my plants every other day that I water ( the ones in the soil ) I can't wait to all of these outside, because they are taking up so much room now in my house.

from google...Is there a marigold tree? Tree Marigold Tithonia Diversifolia Tree marigolds (Tagetes lemmonii) are also known as mountain marigolds, Mexican bush marigolds and tangerine marigolds. They're delightful, vigorous, tough plants that grow as sprawling large bushes or small trees to 1.5m with narrow, strongly segmented green leaves that smell like lemon, mint and tangarine combined... My thoughts is that you got a bushing variety.

Nice presentation, you can wash off the soil, thread the roots through the net cup and fill in the void with perlite. That way only the roots get wet. That would be the easiest way to go. The issue with keeping the soil in the net cup is that soil will stay moist, because it will also wick up water and moister, keeping the block wet against the stem and cause issues for the plant stem.
@GrowLikeAPro
@GrowLikeAPro 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tips ! - Geez you are 100% right with all you said ! I touched the soil just yesterday, and it's wet ! exactly like you said ! and it's more than wet, it's really wet. OK, I'm going to look at the plants today and see if I can make a change. I'm not sure if I have perlite, ( I may have used it all up last summer ) but I do have the clay pellets, but they won't hold the plants in place as well as perlite I'm guessing. Thanks for watching and thanks for the very excellent suggestions !! It's much appreciated ! 🙂
@ayatti26
@ayatti26 5 ай бұрын
@GrowLikeAPro the clay should work. Thread the roots through the bottom. Hold the plant centered and fill it with the pellets all around, like when you up pot seedlings in soil. Your water touches the net cup perfectly, the roots will be in contact with the water and get adjusted. The stem can them dry off.
@GrowLikeAPro
@GrowLikeAPro 5 ай бұрын
Thank you for the additional help. I just by the way ordered some perlite off of Amazon. I checked in my garage and had a huge bag of vermiculite that I don't even remember buying, anyway, I did a Google and watched 2 videos on it vs perlite, and decided not to try using it. Turns out vermiculite really holds the water much more than perlite so that would really keep those stems way too wet. Perlite arrives Thursday, so I'll either try out your method Thurs or probably Friday. If I do I'll do a fast video on it and post it. Thanks again for your help !

I think there's a point where it doesn't matter anymore. For basil, I don't think it matters, because these plants won't get too large, but yes, for something like pumpkins, those roots are insanely large, and need something really big. My pumpkin tests are just tests, I won't be keeping those plants in t hose mason jars, they would go into the ground, but the first one I started off where I show those monster root system, I doubt that will make it to June.... I still have snow on the ground here, and freezing temps overnight, and also chilly in the day. If you have the room for larger net cups, there is nothing wrong with going with the larger size I think. Plant roots do like a room "house" haha.

Hello Mr. Pro. Ive been thinking this through since watching your video today. You can take large plastic jugs, like milk jugs, 2 liter bottles, liquid laundry detergent, basically anything that your template will fit again and trace out the outline. If cut comes from a slightly curved section of the bottle, it can be heated to make it lay flat. Using a hair dryer, warm it till it is malleable and place a heavy book on top of it and let it cool.

Isn't aeration really important with hydroponics? How often do you change or bubble the water?
@GrowLikeAPro
@GrowLikeAPro 6 ай бұрын
This is the most simple method called the Kracky method. It requires NO airation ( via an electric pump ) There are many videos that will go into depth on this, but I've had super success with my plants so far. I have not changed the water, but am replenishing it almost daily. The plants are very thirsty at this point in time. I have a pumpkin plant which is getting out of control at this point and is drinking a lot of water.... and I have NO place to put it, as we are still in winter up here in Canada, as I type this, it's minus 19 degrees C. ( that's minus 2.2 degrees Fahrenheit ) and we have about 3 feet of snow out there. My planting time is the first week of June, so this plant will prob end up too big eventually and I'll just have to let it die.

Last year I started some off --- way too late and didn't have success, well it was because deer going through my property decided to stop and have a feast LOL. After that, they continued to grow a little bit but then just died off... the deer ate 80% of the plants, and I had a lot of them too, and all of them were munched on. In some of my vids from last summer, you see I built a little fenced in enclosure, had to do it because the deer didn't even have to bend down... just walk right up to the buffet table and start munching LOL.
