@@mipad553 Hello I don't believe the Apple silicon macs are compatible with egpus. Also as far as I know, the only way to install windows is by VM (e.g. parallels, vmware etc.). Direct install using bootcamp won't work.

It's kinda hit or miss with M4. OWC advised me to wait for apple Mac OS update since it works well with Windows.

worked for digilocker in my case without the need of the adb app. Geto app version, for me, was 1.16.8 and not 1.15.8 as yours, as of writing this comment on 18 Jan 2025.

I purchased the OWC 0TB 1M2 enclosure, installed a 2TB Kingston NVME m.2 and have not had any issues for over a week now. (knock on wood) I've moved my home folder to this external drive and have since run two timemachine backups to another external HD connected to the mac mini without issue. Your enclosure may be a lemon. I am using the stock USB TB4 cable that came with the enclosure. So far this has been a great setup for the cost.

Just to be clear you are going to replace the internal drive and not get a replacement enclosure? What kind of backup system are you using? Thanks for the informative video. I'm doing research before I upgrade from M2 to M4 mini.

Honestly, I wouldn't buy another enclosure as 1m2 was one of the best and some users are also reporting about the unreliability of enclosures on M4/Sequoia. If OWC replaces the unit that would be great, but I'm definitely not buying a new one. Yes, sometime down the line I will replace the internal 256 GB drive with an aftermarket 3rd party one. This is a new mac and my work files are constantly synced with a NAS. Eventually, I will use time machine to backup before the drive swap. I hope time machine can backup to a network drive lol. Hi I’ve recently upgraded from an old 2014 mbp stuck on big sur, to a m4 mini running sequoia. I also bought sabrent tb4 dock and ssd enclose and nvme m.2 Samsung ssd. Now the ssd is not new, I’ve had that a couple of years. But I have discovered that sequoia is very unreliable with respect to accessing any type of external disk. Big sur is flawless, no problems anywhere. Researching this, I found the same applies to sonoma, so I do wonder what is going on here. I can see that you appear to be suffering the same issues that I have. What would be useful for you to try is the same activity on another Mac running an older os, preferably older even than sonoma. I have also found many other bugs in sequoia, but for the purposes of this post, I’m just focusing on accessing external disks. The biggest problem I’ve seen is when performing write operations. When I first connected my dock/disks to the m4 mm, dragged a folder to write to the disk, I immediately got a generic error, something like “an error occurred”. And no, it wasn’t an NTFS disk, it was a freshly formatted exfat disk. To be honest, I don’t think there is anything wrong with your drive or enclosure and I don’t think it’s a power issue, because the dock I’m using is self powered but this is a problem caused by sonoma/sequoia

I believe you're right. Sorry about your experience with the Sabrent dock and enclosure. OWC advise that that I wait for the next mac update as they continue looking into the issue. Indeed, it could be power draw issues relating to Sequoia. Unfortunately, this is the only mac I have (mainly a windows user) so I'm unable to test older versions of mac OS. Seems like a cable issue. I got this enclosure a week back, been using it to transfer large data, including some old corrupt/ complicated files, that too over night/ over long durations. Cable Im using is Apple Thunderbolt Pro cable. For power to be drawn at a consistent rate , cable needs to be top notch especially when its driving so much data at such speeds. You might be right about Mac mini port not able to give that much power, which is strange it, should be able to like any other Usb4. Working well so far with my M3 pro macbook.

I don’t think there is any issue with the cable. Don’t waste your money. All of the new kit that I bought to work with mm running sequoia works flawlessly with an old 2014 mbp running big sur, so the problems must be down to sequoia. Either that or there is a hardware issue with the mm m4

@@dawnrazor if it’s hardware issue then it’s a big misrepresentation from Apple’s end, far too many corners are already cut for a cheaper entry level mac, now this too? It needs to be like any other USB4. If it’s software then maybe with future updates it’ll stabilise some day soon I guess.

You need to update the firmware on the controller chip on this enclosure. The chipset is ASM2492PD. Look on KZbin and search for a video titled - ASMedia Dumping And Flashing USB SSD HDD Drive Adapters - MPTOOL to learn how to install firmware. This stops all disconnection issues on a Mac.

I have found disconnects on owc 1m2 1TB package failing Time Machine. I get APFS corruption issues. I ordered 1m2 4TB unit and no issues. 😢

I use the 1M2 with a Samsung 2 terra memory for video editing on my base model Mac Mini M4 ..... CERO PROBLEMS. Is there a posible better product at almost the same price? .... yes .... the ACASIS Mac Mini Dock Dual Monitor with 40Gbps M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure .... which I will buy soon.

Interesting review. I've seen the efficiency benefits of ARM chipsets on the server space where I mostly work on, and the Altera does amazing things at a fraction of the power that its x86 counterparts (xeon and epyc systems) do, allowing for insane compute density. I can't wait to see what ARM will bring to the desktop space now that Snapdragon and Nvidia are also entering market that Apple has been dominating for so long with the Apple Silicon. Question is will they be like Tesla, where we assumed they were the best EV options until other manufacturers entered the space and showed us how rudimentary they were, or has their years of innovation put them do ahead of what any competitor breaking into the ARM market now... Perhaps time will tell

With the ever improving efficiency of arm and invention of solid state cooling, I can't wait for the development of more powerful portable systems. 10 years down the line, things will be very different. The significant decline in demand for the older generation apple silicon is a testament to the rapid progress in performance and efficiency of the arm chips each year. I am sure some other manufacturer, especially Chinese ones, will outdo apple at their own game.

I am using AA wireless 2 in my Toyota Rav4 2019 with my Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro. (I have upgraded the software of my infotainment system by the Toyota dealership so now I have wired Android Auto in my original infotainment system) My problem is I get randomly disconnected while driving in the city or even outside the city! I did change the Wi-Fi frequency from 5 GHz to 2.4 GHz with Chanel 11 after reading about it in some forums. It's just a bit better now, but not fixed! - dongle is updated. - I am using the original USB cable in the box. - dongle is fixed and not moving while driving. - all other apps are updated. - I closed all other apps on my phone while driving and just only Waze & Spotify are in use.

The random disconnection is due to interference by wifi signals in the city/populated areas. Just like you, I noted that in AAwireless 1, disconnections were frequent at 5GHz and significantly less on 2.4GHz. I'm surprised that AAwirelss 2 suffers from the same issues as the OG one. I personally use channel 10. I get some mild interference sometimes but disconnections are rare. I read on some Reddit post that some short JMOX-branded USB-A to USB-c cables help with disconnections. I agree it doesn't make sense financially, but if you really want the south leds to shine through, there aren't many options out there. I guess that's why they price them so high.

Developer options will be 'hidden' but not turned off. Developer settings like animation scale etcm remain unchanged.

In terms of backlight shining through, definitely yeah! However, in terms of build quality, they are somewhat comparable, but the new caps have a slightly thinner shell.

@momenkhawaja1898 I have tried to install the beatroute and Location Changer Fake GPS apps from the playstore. The beatroute app launches to the login page without warning about developer options. Since I don't have a beatroute account to fully test, I can't confirm if it will not detect mock location. You can try and see if it will work.

Thank you for this. Working 100% on Samsung 24 Ultra non-rooted. An app I use here in Thailand to pay at the store was updated overnight and it now won't run without developer options being turned off. However, thanks to your tutorial it is now working without the warning 100% and I would like to add that it continues working after I re-enabled Developer Options again in my settings menu. It would be simpler if these apps gave a friendly popup warning people of their suspected dangers of having things like Developer Options enabled but ultimately allow the user to make their own decision to run the app or not.
