I totally love how you pointed out that it is better to buy full characters instead of perks. TBH, for most characters you can buy with Shards (excl. the last 4 original chapters, which most likely will be bundled and discounted next year), you spend less shards if you buy the full character compared to buying individual perks from the shrine. If you absolutely cannot spend extra money on DBD, just hoard the shards and buy licensed perks once, when they appear. Buy them only once, then spend BP to get them at tier 3 on all killers and survivors. This way you don't spend 12k shards on a single perk. I do recommend buying licensed DLCs when they are on discount (mainly on Christmas and Anniversary) and spend the shards on cosmetics.

I think it's always worth looking at the Shrine for perks you don't already have, EVEN if you end up getting the character anyway at a later date, at least for survivors. Survivors are perk-carrying skins. If a perk is in the Shrine that unlocks the only perk from a character you don't already have, or even just haven't levelled, that you're interested in, then it gets you the perk. It saves a lot of time, it goes into your builds immediately, and it gives you an idea for how perks like it might fit into your playstyle. Killers, it's a little more nuanced with their powers, but generally, if it gets you a perk for free from a licenced killer you don't have, yea go ahead and pick it up. You might end up spending the money later, but it'll be for the character and their power, not just the perks. 2k Iri shards, I feel, is not a high cost, for a once a week perusal through the offerings. I say all this, because I know people are going to mention the cost effectiveness of doing it this way. Getting a non-licenced character with iris and grinding to p1 to get the teachables might be cheaper on the iri shards, but definitely not on time investment. If the stars align and the shrine deigns to hand you a really great perk on offer, go ahead and pick it up. Save the time. Treat yourself.

Okay all those perks are good but Kate and Felix are much cheaper now then they were before so it doesn't matter and you should just buy them with shards or pay for the full collection if you can. The killer perks are pretty good and from licensed killers so if you play the game completely free to play... How are you doing it? Please tell me, then they are very useful and worth picking up

I think if you play the game totally free any chance you get to pick up any licensed perks from the shrine is a must! You never know when they will rework them or buff them to the point they become meta. I do agree, if you are serious about playing the game, buy the full collection version and you get all the cheaper characters already. I only make these video's to give my take on if the perks are worth picking up or not. From now on I will also mention if the character is cheap enough to pick up and get all 3 perks from them instead of the 1 shrine perk.

its also important to remember how some characters cost 2250 shards while perks in the SoS cost 2000. if the perks are for one of the characters that are cheap, literally like 1 level more than the prices in the shrine and you get 3 perks instead of 1

It’s so funny to me how they indirectly nerfed the already bad Shrine by reducing the Iri shard prices of characters, it was already pretty bad for original characters, but now it’s just a straight downgrade for most of them

To be more exact. Alien instinct is a licenced perk but there are far better perks that do the same job but better -itd be best if you waited for bbq and chilli to come out, but if you want to pay for urgency that's okay Head on is not worth 2000 shards as Jane ramao is an aesthetically pleasing character with fair skins and more importantly she has 2 other great perks. - save an extra 2500 Crowd control is the same as head on, its an okay perk but less useful than head on. Trickster is a 4500 iri shards killer who has one of the best perks (no way out) and then starstruck which is powerful in speed killers and for specific niche builds - save 2500 and buy trickster instead Illumination is just a meh perk, it isn't the worst due to its ability to help your soloQ teammates do a gen, also reveals chests and let's you cleanse/bless a bit faster. - still a boon, not great, do not buy. Overall, only one licenced perk is worth considering to buy but there are better. And the rest you are paying 500 iri shards more for perks that are better off bought in their respective bundle (character)

On the whole I agree with what you're saying. However the shrine lets you have those perks on all your killers/survs. It saves 1,000,000 bloodpoints prestiging the character. I think a lot of people see buying a new character as quite a big commitment, but for some reason the perks are seen as less of one. I saw on reddit years ago someone did the maths on this so it may have changed. But to get 2000 shards it's roughly 47 games. So saying "just buy the character" is effectively saying double your games to get the character instead. The shrine lets you unlock perks to save you buying a whole character or pumping your bloodpoints into someone you don't want to play but just want their perks. Whether you feel like a perk is worth it ultimately is down to how you play the game. Head on is a great example of a perk that many would find really fun but it's clearly no effective to win games unless you want the killer to rage quit 😂

@hotsingledad360 but at the same time its only said to NOT buy the perks as the characters had 3 good perks. In a future thinking mindset Your probably paying 1500 extra iri shards to get perks that will have to be leveled up anyway, and prestiging gets you all 3 perks so effectively it's 2/3 quicker overall than buying all 3 perks at yellow rarity from the shrine. Some characters have only 1 good perk and in that case (if you know you're never going to want the character or their other 2 perks) buy the perk. But if that's not the case, you're saving time and money buy saving up for the character instead. And also upgrading rarity using shards exponentially increases whereas upgrading with bp is linear. The 2 characters that are free to buy have great enough perks that I'd advise you buy them instead of that 1 perk

Dwight then Meg are the two best for just starting out. All of Dwight’s perks synergies with each other and then sprint burst just helps that play style which encourages new players to just sit on gens
