Thank you, Simon, for this instructive & encouraging sermon. I studied at Everyday Church a few years ago on the Biblical Leadership Course; we sometimes looked at the crossword together at Half Time :) Good to see you looking so well. God bless you.

It's remarkable that even now in April, after Covid in the war - it is so actual. Gd keeps the things together, rules and carries us - if we let him carry - leaving everything to Him.

Thank you Simon for this talk on vision. I really liked that you emphasised that we do things WITH Jesus, not just FOR Jesus. That we don't work things out ahead of time, but abide in the vine, be with Jesus, and walk in step with the Spirit, and see where the journey takes us. I've seen this so clearly in my own life. Even in everyday tasks, if I do them WITH Jesus, I do things so much more effectively, as I include Him in every area of my life. And in doing so, things aren't always done to my agenda, and sometimes I feel frustrated as I don't know why God is shutting a door or wanting me to do something else/differently. But then I see that His way of doing things is always so much better! His ways and thoughts are higher, of course! So, thank you again. This emphasis on doing things with Jesus is very important, especially when bringing people into His kingdom!

Thanks Freddie for that great explanation about dying in relation to the law. I'd always accepted it as true, but not quite understood, it so this was a definite "oh I see" moment. Praise the Lord, bless you.

Thank you for this last talk in the Galatians series, Simon! I liked how you balance that we are saved by grace, but that does not mean we can't be disciplined spiritually. We don't just stop putting in the effort of living/nurturing our relationship with God. We read the Bible, talk to God (preferably all the time!) and worship Him, meet with other Christians, surrender to Him, seek His gifts and be filled constantly with His Spirit etc. etc. It is a work, not to earn salvation, but to walk through this life as a Christian in a healthy way. People may have leanings more towards certain disciplines than others. I certainly find talking to God about things, and asking Him to be with me in whatever I am doing (even when playing a computer game or reading a novel, or going for a walk) is a great way I spend time with God. I read His word, yes also- and talk to Him about it and hear Him showing me things in it relating to my life etc. All the disciplines are important, although for myself I heavily relate to God through talking to Him. I remember the series on the 5 habits of a healthy Christian, and may revisit that also. So, thanks again to you Simon and all the preachers in this Galatians series!

It's interesting- (I have just been reading day 1's devotional on John 13v1-17)- I feel that God is saying not to discriminate. I.e. 'wash' ANY person's feet, not just those who I want to or wouldn't mind. So, it is one thing to put others before yourself, and treat them well. But this is to be indiscriminately for everyone. It's not good enough to be humble in accordance to how you treat and view SOME people, but it is the greatest reflection of your humility if you treat every person- even those who are against you etc.- well, putting them above yourself in humble service. I mean Jesus supposedly even also washed Judas' feet, who went on to betray Him! I feel God is saying that His love is greater than any wrong- (love covers a multitude of sins!)- that it is His love and compassion and by His strength that we are to wash eachother's feet.

Thank you Freddie for such a powerful and poignant word. It did really convict me, about being conceited and also envious, especially when we know of someone's 'burden', but do not even realise we all have burdens! I think you had a great balance in your message, the way you explained about some things not being in themselves sinful, such as recognising our gifts/ strengths of character. But it is when we use what is good/bad in ourselves to COMPARE with others' attributes. I really related to that phrase in Mere Christianity of not being proud of our own beauty or intellect etc., but that we have MORE of it than others. Or less, and then we feel our esteem lowers. So true that we must know our whole worth is in God, and not from the world/comparisons. We are safe in our identity as beloved, and beautiful children of God- of worth because of how God sees us. Why do we seek the approval of others when it is our Maker who knows us and cares perfectly? Also, the fact that often as a church/es we do not share our burdens and therefore cannot go deeper in our relationships with our brothers and sisters. Maybe this is to do with pride in some cases- but also sometimes the culture of positivity- like you mentioned, we find ourselves only talking of what is good, to the detriment of sharing and carrying eachother's burdens. God bless you Freddie, thanks again!

I just want to say, that I really appreciated this preach by Dave Holden. It is a very timely word, I believe. I love the idea of God carrying us, His individual children, His world, and His Church. He knows us all so well, so intimately. There is nothing hidden from or surprising to Him. We need to keep turning to Him, looking to Him for everything. He will never neglect us, or forsake us. But often we don't turn to Him every day, surrender everything to Him, only turning to Him when things are 'beyond repair' or things become overwhelming. We need to allow Him to hold our hand through each and every day. Through the little and hard things- the good, bad and difficult times in life. He will provide for us, we need not worry about a thing. We simply need to look to Him- to put first His kingdom and His righteousness. He is our Father, but sometimes we act like orphans, or like He is our step-dad or part time Father. He never changes, He is always our most loving Dad. We are His very own children, we need to understand how much He intimately cares for us. We can turn to Him and ask Him for what we need. He already knows everything, but I believe He does want us to turn to Him and trust Him in everything. To depend on Him. So, thank you Dave Holden for this message!

Hi Adam, thank you for your message on having Jesus at the centre of our relationships, and showing others the love of God. I can feel Paul's heartache in Galatians, that he feels his relationship with that church has become twisted by the influence of false teaching (1v6). Like in 4v16, he asks- has he become their enemy by telling them the truth? Paul really cared about these people. It's like you were sharing about the man of the family you met, that you were praying for. I do think that God puts people in our lives, even if there's seemingly not much in common, to show Jesus to. I love meeting people of other nationalities and cultures, and hearing their stories. I even want to befriend people of other faiths. Not so I can push my faith on them, but I can tell them about Jesus, and pray for them, as well as simply loving them with God's love. I think we sometimes want a formula, like- if I say this, and this person reacts like that, I can then say this. It's all about genuine friendship, about loving the person wherever they are in life, taking them as they are. So, thank you again for breaking down this passage, talking about the dynamic of relationships with Jesus at the centre!

As a member of a church now in Doncaster I have followed most of Phil’s teaching throughout the months of lockdown so was saddened to hear he was standing down from everyday church - have been following this teaching on Galatians, however, and thank you so much Simon for your explanation of such a profound message of Paul to The Galatians. So much enjoying your teaching and devotions that follow it. Look forward to hearing more from you in the future.

Hi Simon, thank you for this week's sermon and devotional on the true gospel of grace! I have just watched both videos in preparation for my Lifegroup tonight. I liked in the sermon that you said, we can't please everyone all the time, but nor are we meant to. We are to live to please God first, in everything. I think, however, that we can be rather legalistic when it comes to this... and not as Spirit-led or empathetic to what pleasing God may mean for ourselves or others. Not that the Bible isn't clear on many issues, but where there are grey areas, we do need grace for one another! I also liked that you encouraged us to pause and read chapter one again, in this devotional. That we get so caught up in the busy, often rat-race promoting world, that we just need to remember to dwell with God. May God bless you as you lead the church through this season, and may He give you the grace and also strength and reliance on Him in all things.
