If I remember correctly I think it was Arlen Roth who taught and coached Macchio for his part in the movie

The whole reaction of the teacher is well done, cause I've heard a thousand stories like this one happening in Juilliard, when a student wants to play something more modern.

Its not him playing. They used some clever green screen, then had a pro play the actual parts. The two scenes were stiched together.

Look this up, 80% of really big stars have perfect pitch, while 20% of drones in a symphony do. Isn't that crazy? Who would not give a left nut to have perfect pitch...

Ralph Macchio didn't really play that, did he? I heard that in the guitar-off in the end was both played by Yngwie Malmsteen

The actor must have at least a basic understanding of playing guitar.

I'm not a guitar player but I'm sure Mozart and the other classical composers would be in awe of some of the banjo and bluegrass players that came along in the 20th century. Even the so called primitive types of music can be respected by the classical folks.

How the classical is on stand and the acoustic in placed flat down on the bed. What are his respects again. Blues or classical if it was both that acoustic would also be one stand.

Amazing his fingerings on the fretboard are like exact. Especially the blues endings. You could copy his fingerings here' and produce the same audio damn close.Ralph macchio definitly ends fingering correct chords. it's hard to tell fretting hand exactly, but he's got the basic chord shapes. Steve Vai showed Ralph the fingerings. It is astounding!
