I had a spent booster fly by at low orbit...way faster than any satellite I've seen and way higher than any aircraft. It was definitely a cylinder and tumbling. The 12 seconds I got to see it going from west to east overhead. Dark outside but caught the sun over the north pole in Canada.
@starsandnightvision24 күн бұрын

For reference, satellites can travel anywhere from 7000 mph to 17,000 mph, depending on their orbital height.
@j-dot-j25 күн бұрын
The lower a satellite is to the planet the faster it has to travel. This is just another satellite at a lower height, if you were to ask my unprofessional opinion.
@starsandnightvision25 күн бұрын
That would also mean it would have to appear much bigger than the other two which I don't see here.
@rejuvenator896625 күн бұрын
@@starsandnightvision it could be a smaller satellite. Also we can't see the size of either satellite here, we can only see their brightness in the light that they reflect. One could be more reflective surface, shape or angle than the other. Ps. Cool vid!
@starsandnightvision25 күн бұрын
@@rejuvenator8966 I have seen thousands of satellites in my years of skywatching. This object goes way too fast even for a low orbit satellite. Have a look at my video from a few days back, there's an object changing directions and slowing down to full stops. Glad you enjoy the channel. Cheers.
@PaddyBrawlStars25 күн бұрын
Just 3 sattelites a different heights
@CarpeUniversum25 күн бұрын
Looks like the fast one is going almost 3 or 4x the speed of the other 2. That would mean a pretty significant difference is altitude, wouldn't it?
@CarpeUniversum25 күн бұрын
Could it also appear faster because it's in a polar orbit? It looks like it's around 90 degrees off the other 2.

Very nice capture. Just subbed. I'm sure it takes a lot of camera time and video watching time to spot this stuff. Well THAT thing swerving around up there was nuts. I don't believe it's aliens from outer space. I used to believe that but I believe they are our own military and/or they are from below the earth's crust and/or undersea. The three sats in the triangle pattern are probably US Navy sats imo. Pretty cool.

I know it's important for astronomy but I wish everyone could have seen the starlink trains from the first few launches, before they put all of the anti-reflective measures in. They glinted and flared like crystals floating overhead. It was incredible to see.

I have retoric question: How it is possible to see that far (Starlink satellites are around 550km above) with Sony A7s which has around 8.3x zoom? Response: Because is not 550km.
@starsandnightvisionАй бұрын
Because the Sony A7s is the king of low light cameras. It has a 12MP sensor (huge pixels) and you can crank it up to 409.000 ISO! Also I use the fastest lens possible (big aperture f/0.95).
@ROM-FEАй бұрын
@starsandnightvision nice explanation. Makes sense, from my point of view. The are, however, things that need to be answered to, like the alleged distance to the objects in discussion and the inverse squared law of light that I do believe cannot be resolved by The sensor specs. I do believe that the objects are much closer otherwise would be impossible to be seen (angular resolution, brightness, etc). That does not contradicts your explanation but rather confirms it.
