Most people don’t think about repairing the apparatus! The men and women who maintain these rigs have to get it right. The men and women in the stations and the citizens on NYC count on the apparatus operating as designed. Amazing! Thank you!!🇺🇸

4:18 Ladder 44 is using the oldest rig in the fleet right now, a 1999 Seagrave that responded on 9/11 and was partially destroyed and rebuilt as a 2001. Historic rig that should be saved imo.
@jumpingjeffflash9946Ай бұрын
the maintenance budget to fix these must be huge, the guys who work here would never stop working.
@emergencyresponsevideosand4423Ай бұрын
1:11 hold up, their retiering a kme already? Im not talking about the seagrave, the kme with the number 3 on it is missing the turn signal, grill light and also the chrome around the headlights
@Jmccarthy298Ай бұрын
No, it is most likely in for maintenance
@Yupyup535Ай бұрын
KME engines are being replaced. Seagrave holds the engine contract again. KME started in 2013. Every 10 years rigs get replaced. The first batch of KME are up. KME pretty much went bankrupt on the city contract. Its parent company closed its manufacturing plant. They couldn’t keep up with the warranty work associated with the FDNY

Alright I have to ask, in every one’s opinion what is the best manufacturer of fire apparatus? I know they are out of business but American la France was the best! Now I’m not sure, Pierce maybe???

@Jmccarthy298Ай бұрын
They should, I believe it’s code to have them for all fire trucks and ambulances
@rampageof78Ай бұрын
@@Jmccarthy298 none of the new engines or ladders have them aside this one, very weird, fdny is known for not following the chevron guildine, which is what NFPA is...a guidleline only
@rampageof78Ай бұрын
squad 8 and rescue 1 have them, sorry forgot about that! and most of the ambulances...but mostly for the engines ore towers even straight ladders..usually no chevrons

I’m shocked to see this all new Tiller 169 , wow very nice Rig, that means FDNY is about too open a Brand New FIRE station in one of three borough’s Queens , Brooklyn or Staten Island, I would love to find out where 🤔
@Yupyup535Ай бұрын
169 is currently a rear mount aerial in south Brooklyn near Coney Island. The city is adding tillers to the fleet. Replacing some rear mounts with tillers
@adamh7317Ай бұрын
Do they have to take every rig out when they want to move one?

No they have bay doors to drive the rigs through. The shop is also very wide so they can move rigs through

For those not familiar with FDNY's fleet inventory system, the code on the front & rear of each rig indicates the manufacturer, type, year & number. IE, SP24002 indicates Seagrave Pumper 2024 2nd in service for this year. It's much easier than just a number. First letter: F=Ferrara, K=Kovatch (KME), P=Peterbilt (Satellite chassis), etc. Second letter: L=Ladder, T=Tower, R= Rescue, H=HazMat, S=Satellite, F=Foam, etc. T on the end of a Ladder code means a TDA (tiller). S on the end of a Pumper code indicates a Squad (rescue pumper).
@richardpearcy6149Ай бұрын
Sure would like to have that Snap-On route!

Anyone know why they don't buy Seagrave rescues? Everything else is Seagrave.
@Jmccarthy298Ай бұрын
I believe Seagrave got the contract back so the next batch of rescues will be Seagrave
@airspcfanАй бұрын
They never bid it or they were always the highest or one of the highest bidders. They did get the contract for the next batch, so those will be Seagrave, for the first time ever I believe.
