Nice haul! I went there Saturday with one thing in mind to buy, turned the corner to the second row I was going down, and there it was! Didn’t expect that!
@jlebaron1Күн бұрын
cool! I found the Marx E7 power pull on the very first table I looked at. What was the item you were looking for?
@johnbaptist1928Күн бұрын
@ I was looking for a set of Williams NYC passenger cars to go with a Williams NYC Hudson (773) I already had. I just missed out on a set on eBay because I wasn’t going to spend more than $100. When I found the set at Allentown they were $100! He knew what they were worth and wasn’t going to budge on price, but I wasn’t going to pass on them a second time, so I grabbed them. Downside was I had to carry them in around in one large box the rest of the show! It’s not often you find something you’re specifically looking for. That’s great you found that Marx E7 motor at the first table you went to!
@jlebaron1Күн бұрын
@@johnbaptist1928 Several shows I've attended I asked if I can leave the item at the seller's booth and pick it up later so I don't have to carry it around. Never had anyone say no or had any problems later picking the item up. Glad you got them! I've been thinking of getting a Christmas Light Express set, delayed ordering one from Amazon that was a really good price till after I checked the Allentown show. Big mistake, they were all sold out for that price on Amazon when I went to buy it.

@@jlebaron1 Good advice, both arms were ready to give out by the time I was ready to leave! Too bad about missing out on the Christmas Lights Express. Usually why I wind up buying high and selling low!

Great Upgrade! Yes I am not big fan of Plastic Shells on Streamers. The only one I really use is a Marx 490 which I use with the Marx six inch tinplate. Or the Marx William Crooks with seven inch passenger and freight cars. I plan to bypass the 2 Position E Units on all the Marx Single Reduction engines as I just can't get use to that when I have so many Lionel or K-Line Engines with 3 Position E Units.
@jlebaron12 күн бұрын
thanks! I agree, metal is so much better. I was glad the parts fit as nicely as they do
@rchird2010Күн бұрын
Yes plus I think the Marc engines are better with more weight and traction tires ! I run all the Marx single reduction engines on separate layout with no switches as I mostly use Atlas. Or Gar graves ! Still they are cute

Awesome buy and restore of this Pre War Set. I have the Passenger Car in VG Condition but for now going to he using Lionel 221 Dreyfus with whistling tender to provide power. Also have Lionel 1666E with tender to use with the Lionel Juniors. You do great work on bringing these Art Deco sets back to life.
@jlebaron15 күн бұрын
thanks! I recently bought a 221 and repaired it, really nice looking & running locomotive
@rchird20105 күн бұрын
@@jlebaron1 yes i saw! My 221 is in process and I intend to modify the look by adding Red Stripes to lower frame on both the engine and the tender to match the red of the Junior Passenger cars. The E unit and the whistle both need TLC too but easy fix.
@rchird20105 күн бұрын
@@jlebaron1 Slowed down on the Marx. last one I got was 333 with wedge tender. Latest purchases were Lionel Alco's 1961-1963 Rock Island 231 and the 1993 Erie Alco ABA New in the Box awesome runners.

Can you do a video on how the modification was done I want to do this with mine as mine is missing the motor
@jlebaron16 күн бұрын
about all you need to do to install a Marx E7 motor is grind down the mount on the inside just enough to get the shell to sit at the right height. You'll also need a just a bit longer bolt to hold the motor in. Tighten the bolt just enough to hold the shell in place, the motor needs to be able to swivel and you're ready to go.
