It might’ve been interesting to go deeper into what kind of cameras work best for riders-like what features to prioritize.

The stories shared were great examples. The canyon story, in particular, paints such a vivid picture. It really drives home the point that even if you’re not at fault in an accident, your prior behavior can make things complicated. Those anecdotes ground the advice in reality, which makes it hit harder.

Loved how the podcast balanced the technical details with Rod’s personal adventures. Such a great mix.

A bit more detail about why states are ahead of others in terms of dashcam culture could’ve added more depth.
@tomevans30Күн бұрын
The mention of “hooliganism” on the footage is such a real concern. It’s something a lot of riders probably worry about. Maybe there’s a way to be smarter about managing your recordings, like deleting unnecessary stuff or using loop settings on cameras.

Rod’s philosophy about adventure and humanity really resonated with me. Loved this episode.
@grayson84142 күн бұрын
The idea that dashcams are becoming essential, like in Russia, is spot on. There’s this unspoken shift where cameras aren’t just “nice to have” anymore-they’re almost a necessity.
@MotoBeemerКүн бұрын
Absolutely agree 100%. Total necessity in this time, both car and moto.
@jamey89k832 күн бұрын
This conversation has a lot of interesting angles. For starters, the point about police bias against motorcyclists really stands out. It’s something most riders suspect, but hearing it directly addressed like this makes it feel more real. It’d be great to hear more about how that plays out in legal settings or how riders can handle those situations.
@MotoBeemerКүн бұрын
Deep. But yes I think Scott has a point, there are some situations where we are probably assumed to be at fault.

A camera is not a force field. It will just explain your point of view. You do not need to share your personal property with anyone.

A lovely road and great for motorcycles, did it in September , but nothing compared to the mountain passes in the Alps in Europe. Search on the Stelvio pass or Gavia pass and you’ll see proper bum clenching roads.

One benefit not often talked about is the ability to "Rim flat." I have adventure tires on my 2023 Honda PCX 160. I had a situation where I drove over 100 miles with the rear tire flat, "0"air pressure. Drive ability was acceptable. Gas mileage went way down and there were flashing lights on my traction control system. Other than that, no problem.

Looking forward to your experience with the GPX. The fse250 is similar in performance to the old Honda XR250 albeit with an updated modern chassis. If you really want to build some skills quickly seriously consider adding an older trials bike to your fleet, you won't be disappointed in your growth as a rider regardless of your current skill level.
@MotoBeemer8 күн бұрын
great input! I actually had this discussion with someone while in Moab, they stated that a Trials Bike really opened their eyes to everything. At the moment, I'm pretty certain this bike could benefit from a stiffer spring or shock (nothing crazy) but other than that I'm super happy with it. For me and what we currently do it's perfect. Thanks for the advice.
