You're not missing anything. It was just some bad luck. Their label didn't know what to do with them and dropped them. Music was transitioning to emo and they didn't fit in with emo bands.

Used to have a cassette tape version. Lost it years ago but memories of the songs included there remains. Love the movie even up to this day✌️
