I covered a story like this in college and my fellow classmates were in awe when I mentioned Colorism and the brown paper bag test. As a black woman with Vitiligo, I too have experienced negativity from my peers. I have been labeled as Albino or as if I had a contagious disease. It is not okay to treat someone differently because of the color of their skin and if they have things going on such as Vitiligo. The worst thing about having Vitiligo is the names that my peers called me and being bullied. I was recently told that I look better now than I did then, with the exception that "Oh you were cute then but this suits you better". I am like "What the F?" So I appreciate this topic and your content.

This really brings back memories. To me one of the best parts of Disney movies to me is the songs and this is a great celebration of the Disney music that not only have been on the albums, but of the Disney music that's been around for the past 100 years.

@deronworld No problem, I always looked forward to the songs in Disney movies and me and my sister loved Disney Mania back in the day. This was a great revival of Disney Mania as well as a grand celebration of these songs that we grew up with. I absolutely love Disney and these great songs and more were one of the reasons why. Plus I learned some facts the I didn't know about Disney during this special lol

I was in Jack and jill, but im male and very British, so I think I was the exception as a dark skinned person. I didn't really experience colorism until I became more involved in the black community. I had previously lived in all all white situations where the issue was my race not the shade of my race.

Hello everyone, I just want to say that I'm an older person and I remember that when I was younger, after a black woman had a baby the older black women would crowd around the baby to inspect the baby's ears to determine what shade of color that the baby would be as the baby got older. I didn't understand but as i got older I found out that they were making sure that the baby wouldn't be to dark and if they suspected that the baby would be darker when he or she grew up the older women would walk away in disappointment. Looking back i discovered that older women were prejudice. It destroyed my faith in older women. Again looking back i find that colorism is not in our dna, it's merely taught by people in our own race by older blacks. This cycle has to be broken

This presentation provided an intimate snapshot of a variety of experiences and ways to move forward in harmony, It speaks to the elephant in the room and we as a Black community need to take steps to begin to heal our trauma related to how we have treated one another for the past four hundred plus years. My first exposure to colorism was in Primary School where the light complexioned students were favored over the darker ones, This was not the U.S. but Bermuda, an island in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. I was fortunate to have parents that encouraged me to embrace people within my circle by their character and not their skin complexion. Bermuda was segregated during this period and my circle of friends were black. Colorism has been and continues to be an unfortunate curse on our society.

We need to send the white women we love and honor over procreating with back to slave master. Ain't nothing good ever came out of putting babies in white women for a nigga but only a lustful situation that lead to our black community farther division and destruction. Light skin women, dark skin women and men hate light skin brothaz so much but keep procreating them lol I mean make that make sense? All this delusion and confusion. We shown so much envy, jealousy and hatred towards light skin brothaz down playing their masculinity over looking the ones from the hood who dangerous and don't play will knock you the hell out and put that fye on a nigga. In order to kill colorism it have to start with accountability owning up to our parts fully leaving nothing and nun out. As a dark skin brotha I own my part and take full accountability for my self hatred neglecting to love my self enough to procreate, love and protect my dark skin women, fattish sizing light skin or white and any other race of women I listed for but my own complexion, the envy, jealousy and hatred I once showed towards light skin men but really envied their natural strong pretty baby making a jeans ability, yes I hold my self accountable to purge the colorist demon that's in my spirit that should not be there or here. Every one must grow and develope and take full self accountability and accept accountability in our part with our point a finger or placing blame lol this task is for the grown. Accountability must be fully addressed, take place and spoken up on so we can move on. For once in my life I feel good as a dark skin brotha who no longer self hate I find desire to to love, be happy and procreate for a life time with my own complexion of dark skin women and light skin women need to do the same stop acting to vain to procreate with their handsome light skin men and allow that light skin brotha to bring value, standards and class into their lives making fine looking children and I say this out of love from my heart which no longer hates or envy but grew to be humble and a realest.
@foodiestar3005 Жыл бұрын
In order for colorism to die it's going to depend on the women to stop self hating and feeding into the colorism, it's going to take for light skin women to stop being so vain, humble them selves to desire and procreate with their own skin tone complexion light skin men so that dark skin men can go to their dark skin women lol but that's not going to happen because light skin women have a vain addiction they need dark skin men so they conceited asses can feel prettier then the children. Colorism dies when the self hatred dies.
