I have two questions. 1: If you are already enrolled on the level 4 diploma, can you switch to the new level 4 certificate when it comes out? 2: If you finish the current level 4 diploma, can you go on to the new level 5?

Hi, The format of the Level 4 diploma and the new certificate make it not possible to switch - sorry. The good news for your other question is that we are planning to release a Level 5 later in 2025. Please keep an eye on our Events page (www.nationalparalegals.co.uk/events/) for the webinar about it that will be around May time.

Will there be a Law of Contract module beyond the recently introduced level 3? The same question regarding Ethical behaviour and Client Care, or is this embedded across the Level 4 Certificate?

Sergio, there are a number of single subject qualifications that may interest you: www.nationalparalegals.co.uk/qualifications/level-3-single-unit-qualifications/. Contract Law is part of the new Level 3 and there is an Ethics one in the single subjects

what are the total no. marks for the assignment for each unit?

Hi, it doesn't really work like that. There are different grades for each unit within each qualification, and you need to pass each unit, rather than amassing points over the whole qualification. Assignments are marked and graded either with a pass (45 - 64%), merit (65 - 79%) and distinction (80-100%). You can find out more here: www.nationalparalegals.co.uk/qualifications/

I have a non qualifying law degree and I graduated in 2013. I've done some voluntary work and placements and kept up with law in general as best as I could. I want to do the level 7 Paralegal Diploma with you and not the level 4. I am in my mid 30's. Would that be possible?

Really sorry that we didn't comment on this a while back; don't know how it slipped through the net. The Level 7 is a post-graduate diploma so we would need to understand more about your law degree before being able to determine whether you can do the L7. She answered so much for us older ladies, I'm 52 and have been thinking of going back to Uni, which I am eventually going to do as I have always wanted to complete my LLB. However, I know there is going to be so much competition for me hence the reason why I wanted to become a Paralegal. Huge respect for this lady

This is the 2nd most embarrassing video about the role of a paralegal I've ever watched. The first most embarrassing is the "alternative pathway", with the boob out. Seriously? Who are you trying to attract into the role, considering you're the professional body?! Very shocked.

Hi Ciaran, we’re so sorry you don’t like the video. Are you a paralegal yourself? I can’t see you registered as a member of NALP. Perhaps you could tell us what it is you don’t like it. We can then address that for you. This video is actually based on a real conversation (although, admittedly played by actors in this example) and it serves to highlight the role paralegals play in helping people who simply don’t have the funds to pay for a solicitor. In real life, the poor girl depicted in the video desperately needed legal advice and help, but could not afford to see a solicitor. A paralegal was able to help her. I am sure you agree that letting more people know that using a paralegal is an option for many legal issues is a good thing to do.
