If after three complete seasons, even if the organization had their head up their ass, if you cannot show that you're a 40 million year quarterback, then there could be no way when holding a top three draft pick not to try and do better from a college draft.

@7:50 Jay Cutler had a Canon for an arm also... How did this work out for us Bears fans . ??? You are the only one of the binge-watching to make a video about how Justin should have checked that ball down instead of throwing it to DJ moore. The rest just say that Fields should just not have thrown it out of bounds by 10 yards. I'm going to allow the conspiracy theory that Fields wants to pad his resume with long 30 plus yards in the air throws for his next team to audition for.

Your view presents an interesting perspective, though I have some differing opinions. Firstly, this is only the second year for Justin in this offensive scheme, not the third. His first year lacked effective coaching. Additionally, when analyzing three plays, down and distance should be included for context. Regarding Justin's reads, it's not always clear if he's on his first read; he doesn't always throw with anticipation because that's not his style. He's more of a 'see-it' passer, needing certainty before throwing. I'm looking at Justins clutch game improvement he's calm amd makesure plays the offense just has to help him. He's far from complete but he's far from move on. You didn't say that but your narration of 3 plays said it. Good Bad Ugly 👎 it's slanted and obvious. Perhaps Ugly Bad Good and Great more fair and balanced if that was even your intention. Perhaps not. Again I respect everyones opinions. It's Fandom. I suggest adding more context to these plays. While your analysis isn't random, it lacks context like game timing, pressure on the quarterback, etc. Even though you highlight pressure A six-second delay in decision-making might be too long, but for an athletic quarterback like Justin, it's part of their play style. With a sophomore play-caller and quarterback, context is crucial. Justin appears as a year 2 quarterback in this system but a year 4 playmaker. Suggesting he plays as a check-down quarterback, like Tyson, overlooks his unique abilities. Recognizing a play doesn't always mean overcoming it. Conceding Justin's lack of anticipation in throws, it's important to question why certain plays are called that don't suit his strengths. If he needs short yardage, options like bootlegs, quick slants, or DJ crosses might be more effective. The issue is whether the play-calling can adapt to Fields' style. This is reminiscent of Tyson's time, where coaching didn't seem to adapt either. Regarding the rebuild, it seems more a lack of coaching than player capability. While Justin has his weaknesses, under him, the Bears have remained competitive, unlike previous times. Criticism through your lens is valid, but no "magic QB" will fix the rebuild quickly. Poles' decision-making, especially bypassing Bryce and CJ, signals that choosing a new QB isn't a priority. The defense is strong and will be even more so next year. Adding a rookie QB to a ready team could extend the rebuilding process by another three years. Finally, the trend in football is shifting towards quarterbacks like Lamar, with mobility being a key attribute. While quick-release quarterbacks can be effective, defenses are adapting rapidly. Quarterbacks like Joe Flacco, who can read plays well but lack mobility, might struggle with turnovers. Justin's hesitation can be attributed to the frequent changes in offensive coordinators. The future seems to favor quarterbacks with mobility and adaptability.

It is obvious that we disagree, and likely will not find agreement. I find the entire "style" of play that Fields requires to be problematic to offensive football, but hey, as you said that's just an opinion. You are right to point out that he's only in his second year of THIS offense, but what you are not adding, for context, is that he is much more of an one offense kind of guy. He is not a quarterback that you can plug in, teach your offense to him, and let him run it. He requires, and very likely might always require, an offense built around his strengths which handcuffs many personnel decisions on offense. Your bias is obvious as well, and you are correct, I made no attempt to hide mine. As you as you say, "great" or "special," you are already indicating that you are willing to overlook bad QB play in many basic categories because he is good in some of the harder to find ones. You are likely one of the people who believes that he will grow in those basic areas. I come from the other school of thought which says that his lack of true progress in those areas shows a clear limitation to his ability to progress in them. Parts of the NFL are moving towards running quarterbacks, most are sticking with the mobile ones. This distinction has had to become a thing due to players like Vick, Jackson, Hurts, and Fields. Yet those who are embracing the QB Power run game and quarterbacks who substitute as running backs is still quite limited, and I do not see a day where such players become the mainstream in the NFL. Games are still won through the air, and in the pocket. But, my intent was only to answer your assertions, not to spark a potential argument. I can respect that you see things quite differently from me. That's okay. Yet the fact remains that until Fields can consistently, and with regularity, win from the pocket, there will always be a limit on the Bears offense, what they can do, and how successful they can be.

Great job Wes, very good breakdown and I agree with pretty much all you say here. I love the Johnson pick I think this guy will be an animal in the backfield.

for the most part agree, my thing is the offensive line has to be what they were ranked to be the 9th best in the league. Last week they looked like bottom 1/3 if that don't change it doesn't matter what Trubisky does

I agree with you. The line has to do better. If they have the same game this week, it'll be tough for anyone in the backfield to do much of anything.
