Your 1936 f-30 Farmall should be red. McCormick Deering switched from grey to red in late 1935. I have a 1935 F20 it was painted grey.

Cows love the heart beat of a model A. I have one now in New Hampshire because my uncle had one back in the 1950's, 300 acre dairy farm in Hammondsport, NY. I was 5 when he gave me my first ride standing up in front of him seated. I'm 73 now. Same age as my model "A". I just cut grass with the No5 7-foot sickle power mower on our 1790 farm. 💚💛 Its a very emotional tractor.

2 drain plugs for the trans/rear diff case. Have 2 5-gallon buckets ready for the shower of 7 gallons plus all the water that you'll find in there. Another important service point is draining one a month during winter is the reduction gear case where the clutch mounts. Tiny drain plug below the clutch - and filler plug up top on the case to the rear of the engine oil filler cap. That case breeds a lot of condensation. Drain it monthly in cold weather. Refill with 1/2 quart of your engine oil. That oil will mix with your engine oil if you add much more. But its a water trap inside that case. Drain the trans every year! A lot of water builds up in there also. Use SAE 80/90 per the manual. NOT 140 gear oil. The Powr-Trol takes 5 quarts of 10w30 conventional motor oil. Remember there is a leather diaphragm in there. Don't fuch it up with fancy synthetics or heavy gear oils. Get the Operator's Manual OM-R2002 Copy or originals are easy to find online. Its the gospel!!.

I also have a 1951 "A" Best of Breed. A original or copy Operator's Manual OM-R2002 is very easy to buy online. Its a workshop manual, it shows every maintenance job needed to preserve this king of JD's.

I have a '51 A with No 5 7-foot mower, with the JD hyd cylinder for lifting. A nice well maintained original combination . I'm in New Hampshire, I bought the combination from Mast Tractor in Ohio 7 years ago, had it shipped to me. Its a trubute tractor in memory of my uncle (1918-2009) who gave me my first A ride back when I was 6. I'm 73 now. Its very emotional for me remembering his decades of dairy work in Hammondsport NY. when I cut grass today. Its a Grand ol tractor. Thanks for all your A videos 👍💚👍

Few yrs ago started picking up some old John Deere plows. 1st one I picked up at auction a rope trip 2 bottom 14”, from what I found looking online think it’s a model 4B. Second plow pocked up at another auction 3 bottom 14” with hydraulic lift and in a condition a guy could pull it in a parade if wanted too. The 4B was no trouble behind either my Slant dash 47 A or dads 51 A, the 3 bottom seemed to pull better and turn dirt over better in 3rd gear over 2nd with dads 51 A. Third found on Craigslist a model 44 2 bottom 14” hydraulic lift on steel wheels. Not sure if it’s true or not but someone said it was rare model 44 hydraulic lift on steel wheels. The plow had seen its better days but thinking of trying it out behind a 1950 JD B. Growing up dad would have the plowing done by time I got there on my visitations all that was left for a young guy to do was pull a disc over the plowed ground. Now that I got my own plows and little field it’s a fun learning experience, figure more I do it better I can get at plowing

I have a 52 BN with the round rear axle housing and long rear axles. My Grandpa bought it used when i was in grade school and i remember people telling us to cut the end of the axles off. Fortunately that didn’t happen. It was one of the ones that also has a water pump.

I enjoy seeing the different seasons, changing look of your mountains. I have a '51 A with a no5 7' mower for North Carolina old grazing fields. My uncle gave me my first ride when I was 7 back in the 50's. At 72 now my uncle has passed away but I still have all of his haymaking equipment. Very emotional. Keep them running. These tractors were built with pride and will last forever. Sad we live in a day where everything is built to just barely make it to the end of warranty and is near impossible for the average man to fix. Never let go of these old machines! One question if I may ask, what size rear tires are on your A and what do you run on your B. I'm thinking 12.4-38 for A and a B. Fixing to put new shoes on some our tractors. Thanks for your videos, Jody

Our model G had no muffler for a few years and we could hear when my Dad was using it while we were at school several miles away. Yep he sure got hard of hearing from being too cheap to get a new muffler for it, so he had to spend several times what a muffler would have cost on hearing aids later in life.

Hello. What do you apply to oat hay during harvest? I am from Poland and I am very interested in the issue of oat hay. How long does it take from mowing to harvesting? At what humidity do you harvest hay. Great production, great farm.

Grew up on a JD 420 row crop tractor with a tricycle front end. It still runs great. The only repair ever done was to replace the clutch. Have to say it is the most durable toughest little tractor I have ever known of. Newer John Deeres and Kubotas are smoother and easier to operate, but not better. The 2 cylinder gas-powered JD seemed so powerful and torqued with the way the governor on them worked. I remember cutting some thick fibrous grass with a 5 foot brush hog. The 420 would load up and strain , shake the whole tractor. The engine would get louder but would not die. The PTO would be turning the brush hog blades so slow that the centrifugal force would not be enough for the blades to cut the grass. Only an electric motor has more torque per RPM than a 2 banger JD. AMAZING!

Thanks I have an L also without the SN tag they were in a bad place and easily lost when people threw a chain around the rear axel to pull something. Mine has starter and lights. that is not the difference between L and LA as someone commented. Was originally used by the ND Highway Dept to mow roadsides. Remember seeing them when I was little. I think you miss identified the oil pressure gauge as the engine temp gauge. Fun little tractors. .

Kyle, I look at Afton nature with intermittent springs. So itersting for cold water kind of spring situated in the zone of vertical circulation. In our country Croatia this type is completely different and it is periodic because of Dinaric karst. For all hydrological engineer and karstology (in one term) we are full of periodic springs like in Vrgosko polje or The Krčić River as a completely different type that is evident that there is no covering soil and hence no vegetation either in the entire spring zone or in the upstream part of catchement.
