Can you help with an ad for Ready Mixed Concrete? It features a catchy sung jingle and trucks painted red and yellow. I have not been able to find it anywhere and this is made more difficult because as far as I know the ads were not played NZ-wide (the company was based in Hamilton). Thanks!

'Rock of the nineties' was a slogan originally used by Magic 91FM in Auckland, which went on to be known simply as 91FM. In 1993 the frequency was used to launch The Breeze and in 1997 the frequency was used to start ZM in Auckland.

Thank you very much for putting this up. I was an absolute David Reid Electronics nut back in the 70s and 80s. That place was my mecca as a kid and I spent way too many hours in there along with all of my pocket money. I have been collecting DJR catalogs, parts, kits and memorabilia for some years now.

Everyone who watched that telethon remembers Leeza & Chris ended up together after this & Russell Smith before Play School working behind the scenes... my dad had a new wife and little boy... so I saw Russell on Play School in the afternoon with my little brother

Just discovered your channel through a comment you made on another video. Looks like you’re doing what I’m doing but in Aus. I’m in the UK.

You're close, I'm archiving New Zealand ads but we do get a lost of Aussie crossovers. :) I Look forward to exploring your British adverts.

@@KiwiRetro Ha. Well thanks for all these uploads. Funny how many memories we have locked away. Funny how I absolutely hate to watch adverts but love watching these. Funny how old school adverts can take you back to such a great happy time in life.

I definitely prefer full original jingles to the variations where an announcer interrupts it for some reason or another. :)

The classic kiwi childhood memories have been unlocked. 1983-1993 was the best time in NZ to be a kid I reckon.
