I was Joey’s opponent in this video. Despite the first 3 seconds, Joey showed nothing but class and respect after the fight. He’s kind and has a bright future in martial arts!

Very disappointing what she done, That was not the Kata she claimed it to be, it was a misrepresentation of the real and complete Kata. Please go back and learn the Kata and not the first few techniques of the Kata. By the way Rika Sensei would be embarrassed of what you did and claimed using her name.

Does 48 years of continual training, Teaching not just simply instructing but Teaching, competing in Martial arts competitions Nationally as well as internationally before during and after the advent of the modern day safety equipment, Teaching In Okinawa the Birth place of Karate by the way for four years. A Board member on multiple Martial Arts Boards, obtaining the Grade of Yudansha and the Rank of Shichidan so if your goal was to insult me in a round about way or to possibly minimize the skill set that I bring to this forum allow me to inform you you that you failed miserably. Once again as a experienced senior Yudansha I have a well rounded education within the Martial Arts arena not only Goju-Karate but other Disciplines as well. Expert? By the way I stand by my original statement regarding the Scholar Karate-Ka Kata.

This is a uniquely different kata inspired by Rika Sensei. It's not the same as the original at all. Anyone who does martial arts or kata understands that kata is a self expression of movements. This is the first part of the Scholar Kata. There are 9 different parts to create the entire form.

Are they mirroring Ms. Julia (Julia has right arm up, and boys have left arm up) or should they try and copy exactly Julia has right arm up so my boys should have right arm up, etc.? Is is possible to do the form example at normal speed for part 1, then slow motion, back to normal speed for part 1 (same with the next parts)? Thank you!!!

It's a mirror of Ms. Julia. So if she is moving to her right the boys should move left. We wanted to do a back view but part 1 of the form is all hands. Maybe we'll create a rear facing view to help out with their footwork.
