Love the before & after pics. However, LED lights are not good for our eyes or circadian rhythm.

Hi @CarrieAnn17, Thanks for engaging with our video and your kind words regards the impact our lights can have had on this space. Any artificial or natural light source can have detrimental effects on our eyes in the wrong circumstances. Low end, poorly designed artificial light sources, be they LED or older technologies, where the persons and environment have not been considered, should certainly be avoided. At John Cullen Lighting we use best in class LED components, considerably designed into low glare luminaires, that optimise the visual comfort of those using or living in the environment. Different colours of light temperature can also be selected to enhance circadian rhythms too. Matt Healey, Head of Product

Thank you Matt for your response. I love what your designers enhance & accomplish. Agreed, like my iPhone, I have turned down the blue intensity on the screen & increased the warm colors to reduce the glare. Keep up the great work.

Do you have any tips for lighting a wall of photos and art with glass to achieve even lighting but reduce glare? Wall size 10ft tall, 14tf wide, art takes up about 5ft x 8ft. (art starts 1ft down from ceiling to about 4ft from floor) Considering track lighting with wallwash but downlights would be more pleasing. Only have about 4ft out from wall on ceiling before running into fan and ducts. Thank you!

Hi Jeremy We can definitely solve this problem and create the most beautiful lighting effect with our Polescade downlight. Use a run of them to create a stunning wall wash effect. Check them out here - www.johncullenlighting.com/product/polescade-50-wallwasher Please not the exact positioning of them is key to the success. Check out the Installation Guide for full details. Let us know if we can help further Sarah

Beautiful and creative. Love the before and after. Subscribed within minutes of the video. Would love to see some behind the scenes of how the projects are considered and executed to achieve the look. I assume this required significant demolition with drilling thru walls and ceilings, rewiring etc?
@johncullenlighting16 күн бұрын
Hi Jeremy How lovely to her that you have subscribed and are enjoying our KZbin channel. Thank you for your content ideas too. When thinking of changing your lighting, it is certainly best to create a design early on in the build or renovation process. We usually say lighting should be considered at the same time as plumbing. If your house is already complete, as in one of the properties above, then yes a new lighting scheme will require a significant upheaval to achieve the best effects. I hope that helps Sarah

This seems like an extremely lame job which is the sort of thing you keep secret at a party, for the sake of losing all your friends! So what do you do Tim? (Cough-cough) that's private! Still somewhat tempted to try it because it pays so well probably since no-one with a functioning brain will do it!

I'd love to know *how* you add light to the shelves? Where is the LED strip exactly? Is the light in the wall? on the shelves themselves? Same question re: the staircase. Thank you.
@johncullenlighting2 жыл бұрын
Hi firstly it depends on what lighting effect you are looking to achieve either back or front lighting. If back lighting you can stick it to the back of the shelf, but if front lighting you will need to create a groove to conceal the strip in the profile at the front. The detail here is very important so you get the best lighting effect but difficult to explain here. I hope that is helpful Sarah

What I'm wondering is, when tungsten bulbs are used with a colour temperature of 2700-3500, won't they get a warm cast on the artwork?

How cab you do lighting without small budget and without doing work on wall finishes. How you plug them ?
@johncullenlighting2 жыл бұрын
Hi Yasmin all lighting will need to be linked back to the mains supply so if you don't have a feed in place you would need to add one which can often create necessitate redecoration. I hope that is helpful Sarah
@cmacl57052 жыл бұрын
I've been enjoying your videos, very informative! I have a question, it seems like lighting comes in after furniture and decor in order to know what to illuminate and highlight. Yet, I've also heard you say (in Sophie Paterson's case) that you could do floor lighting since the floors where already in place. I guess my question is, at what point is lighting incorporated in a renovation for instance? If the home owner doesn't have all the furniture pieces and decor that how will light placing be determined?
@johncullenlighting2 жыл бұрын
Hi this is a very good question. You need to think about your lighting at the same time you think about your plumbing. In a new build or if you are totally renovating your room, this is before first fix so that wires can be put in place before plastering. If you were adding uplights, then it is before the flooring goes down again so that you can add the wiring in first. As you say how do you know what to illuminate if the furniture, art is not in place? You ideally need to create a floor plan prior to your lighting to ensure that the light is placed in the right places. As lighting designers we do find our time discussing furniture layouts with clients quite often! I hope this is helpful Sarah

Hi, I am doing a wet bar with shelves and will be doing a Mercury mirror back. I like the look of backlights but I was wondering what options do I have in terms of lighting and set up with the reflective surface?
@johncullenlighting2 жыл бұрын
Hi Courtney the key is to put the LED strip in a profile which has an opal cover which diffuses the light and ensures that the dots on the LED cannot be seen. I hope this is helpful Sarah

That makes it look easy. How far could you run the wires from the junction box to strips. I want to install RGBW strips off one driver and controller to 4 different places (niches) in a bathroom. Could they be wired like this and all receive the same amount of power? Thank you. Will check your site out now
