Hello, very nice video. On 31:00 you show how to drag a task end date into the future and how all those related tasks have their start date updated as well. It does not work for me when I drag the end date into the past, making total duration smaller. All dependant tasks keep unchaged into their start dates, but I would expect they were brought forward to start earlier. Is there any hint on how to make it happen? Or do I need to update each one of remainder tasks to reflect the new dates? Thanks in advance.
@OpenProjectCommunity
@OpenProjectCommunity 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Yes, this is currently not possible moving tasks backwards and also moving the following tasks. There are thoughts about moving the successors in case a predecessor is moved to the past/shortened: community.openproject.org/wp/52757

You forget to mention, that the demonstrated software is not free. So for example the Kansan Swim Lanes are available in the paid version of open project only. And it is quite a rip off. Like 300 Euro/Dollar per year minimum.
@johnparker007
@johnparker007 3 ай бұрын
Yeah I looked into this OpenProject software, it's just a cash grab, the free version is useless with only the 'basic board' feature. For up to 5 team members would recommend something like Atlassian Jira. Even the free version is fully featured, and also hosted with 2gb storage. This OpenProject software needs to die already.
@OpenProjectCommunity
@OpenProjectCommunity 2 ай бұрын
You seem to be an Atlassian Jira ambassador :-). Unfortunately, Jira is not FREE - in the sense of Free Speach. Maybe the version for small teams is free of charge. But we are open source, the source code is freely available, customizable, extensible. And unlike Jira, you can still install and run OpenProject yourself. Well, and our developers also want to be paid, which is why we charge money for hosting and support and have a set of premium features. If you don't like it, you don't have to buy it.
@johnparker007
@johnparker007 2 ай бұрын
@@OpenProjectCommunity It's useless junk - the 'premium' features are literally essential core features. This is open source, the same way as OpenAI is open source, i.e: essentially closed source, but using the 'Open' prefix as a marketing term. Ugh.

@@OpenProjectCommunity No offense but Open Project is just another commercial company. The product is ok but for me rather on the expensive side. So MS Project for example in the Standard version is still massively superior to OP. MS Project is about 670 as a perpetual license. Without the need to repay every year. So for a small team of 3 it is the better choice. OP may have its roots in Open Source but moved on. I would wonder, if all the fancy paid version stuff would be open source.
@OpenProjectCommunity

OpenProject is Open Source Project Management Software and can be installed on your own servers. The free of charge Community Edition contains a full feature set, incl. the Agile Boards. 😉 And yes, we do charge for our services contracts to cover maintenance and support for the software and also sponsor feature development. Compared to other paid Open Source Project Management Software with a similar set of features we are on the affordable side. Just look at Easyredmine and Co.

Was fehlt ist etwas so simples: Ein Dashboard!
@dutchbachelor
@dutchbachelor Ай бұрын
Ok. Erklär mir mal bitte, wo du denn sowas heute hast?
@Foxhunter_DE
@Foxhunter_DE Ай бұрын
