Yeah! I love this song. I've never really been able to narrow down a specific favorite song, but this one really might take the cake for me. I was so obsessively listening to it that I knew I needed to use it for a video, though unfortunately after working on the video for all this time, now I can't actually listen to the song without hearing Marcus and Morpheus getting smart with everyone in the instrumentals. But it's okay, I accept that as the tragic sacrifice I needed to make to give my boys the tribute they deserve. 🥲 Man I wish they would. If they just brought over all the RE Survivor games plus the Outbreaks in HD remasters, it'd be such a dream come true. 🥺 You definitely should try his game out. It can get a little repetitive at times with the gameplay and enemies, but overall I still think it's really good. Plus despite his very minimal screentime, Morpheus is great! He had a good foundation and a lot of potential to be a really interesting and unique antagonist, but sadly character development wasn't exactly a major priority in Dead Aim lol. And considering the viruses and bioweapons are supposed to be so powerful and all, they're all pretty dang easy to deal with seeing as none of the villains manage to survive for more than one game. More recurring antagonists really would have been nice for the overall plot and would have made them seem more like the threat they're supposed to be, but alas. Missed opportunities as always. 😔

Oh, same here! They're both my favorite RE villains, and really just among my favorite characters in general. Though I originally just thought to use the song for Marcus, it ended up being such a great fit for both that I figured I'd try adding Morpheus in too, and I think their scenes actually meshed pretty well together! Neither of them get much in terms of fan content either, but especially Morpheus, so I figured it was the perfect opportunity to make a little dedication for them both. Totally agreed! Marcus really did have so much potential overall, but it was all wasted by introducing him and killing him off in the same game. He could have been a great long-running villain for sure, especially since the series really could have used more of those since practically every villain either dies in their debut game or we just never see them again. But honestly with Marcus, he had enough potential that they easily could have gone a different route as well, instead giving him a redemption arc where he ends up directly helping with Umbrella's downfall. He was the one villain in the series who, despite formerly being a part of the company, hated Umbrella and his entire motivation was centered around getting revenge on them. Having one of Umbrella's founders come back and actually change his ways to instead help the protagonists bring them down would have been such a great plotline, and even more interesting since he still has the whole Queen Leech thing going for him. Someone with his knowledge and abilities joining the good side would have been so interesting and such a refreshing change of pace from the usual pattern with villains in this series existing just to be killed off. And it's just a shame because he really does stand apart from the other villains and could have easily had his whole story and character expanded on, regardless of whether they chose to keep him as a villain or if they actually went for the redemption route. Definitely a missed opportunity either way.

Yup, plus there's the similarity of Marcus being dead for ten years before finally coming back while Alexia faked her death for fifteen and then came back. Their designs even complement each other well, with both of them being very regal and unique but with opposite color schemes. They both also have a tendency to laugh either before or after every sentence, so that's something too I guess lol. They definitely stand apart from the other villains though, and they could have made for great recurring antagonists in the series if only they got to live past their debut games. Especially being that they're both part of Umbrella's founding families, having them around for longer could have really helped expand on that side of RE rather than it being tossed aside so early on.

I guess James Marcus is an attempt to make another Alexia Ashford type villain cause of how everyone liked her and it worked out perfectly, Marcus is definitely one of my 3 favorite villains with Nemesis and Alexia I definitely agree with them being recurring antagonists in later games. Spencer and Wesker did cause alot of events of the series but without Marcus and Alexia, alot of things that happen in RE will not happen. just killing them off in their debut games is a waste of potential since they could be great and iconic villains of the series just like Wesker.

And that one's actually really interesting too because as much as it's a similarity for them, it also makes for a neat contrast since they both have very different ways of going about that fascination. Marcus' initial research into leeches started out purely scientific but ultimately led to him viewing them with a genuine affection and seeing them as his children, while Alexia's research resulted in her becoming obsessed with the ant ecosystem itself and wanting to impose that same system on the rest of the world with herself ruling as the queen instead.

For sure! Especially since through his actions, he did ultimately end up bringing Umbrella to the grave with him...even if he really didn't need to die a second time to do that but we played the villains in RE0 so it is what it is. He did his best with the limited time he was given. 😢

There's just so much story potential there that each video can show a different aspect of it or another way it could have played out given varied circumstances. I had to hear that line so many times while making this video, I know I heard it as that a few times early on too lol.

Thanks, I take my job as Marcus' chief propagandist very seriously. 😊 For sure, Alexia most certainly would have been redeemed. Because Marcus would be happy to adopt Steve and since he's already known to be a great father, he would not allow Alexia to kill nor torture their son, so she'd already be on a much better path. As for Claire... I don't think Marcus would want her. He just needs a new son to fill the void Brandon left in his heart, so Claire can be the girl next door instead. But! The sitcom does still work because Chris will be trying to keep an eye on Marcus and Alexia since he thinks they're up to no good with their science antics, therefore he's always trying to sabotage them. Even better, Alfred would not be happy about having a brother-in-law, so there's the plot twist of him conspiring with Chris to stop the ship. But at the end of the series he finally comes to realize Alexia's happy with Marcus and whatnot, so he has a change of heart and decides to accept his new family. In the midst of those shenanigans, Steve and Claire are just trying to be a normal couple while having the mutual understanding that their families are weird. And then everyone lives happily ever after while Edward looks down from the heavens, smiling because now his family name doesn't have to die out. The Ashfords were saved all because Marcus once seduced Alexia with his opera. What a hero. 🥺

Whoa, that’s so weird, especially because I’m still not entirely sure what possessed me to make it. I had the idea in my potential videos list for some time, but I figured it’d be a while before I actually get to it. Then for some reason the impulse to make it just randomly hit one day, to the point that I was literally in the middle of working on my next Marcus video and abruptly stopped to make this instead. But honestly, I think I should probably blame Wesker for its creation. Every time I'd hear the song I could so vividly see the scenes with him and Alexia, I guess it all just finally got to me. See, I think this is a sign that I need to just stay in my Marcus corner because otherwise I’ll be unknowingly swiping video ideas. If being turned into a Jill sandwich is the price I must pay for this, I accept my fate. 😖🤣 She sure is, she had three potential guys and not a single one was capable of putting up with her for long. They really do. If it's a series or character with even a slight element of tragedy, then there's probably the perfect Linkin Park song waiting for them somewhere out there. 🤣 It's definitely a good watch, although I'm not sure if you'd like it any better than the game. 🤔 It cuts and rushes a lot of things, and the beginning feels kinda bizarre and oddly paced, especially in comparison to the original, but I think it does pick up a bit toward the second part. Otherwise I mostly just view it as nice fanservice for seeing more from the characters and another version of the plot, plus they do show a bit more of the characters' backstories through little flashbacks, so that's super cool to see at least. Pretty much all the villains aside from Yggdrasill got gypped out of their rightful screentime though, but I suppose that couldn't be helped. 😢

It didn't eat him, it just entered his body and merged with it. But being that the assimilation gave it such control over his body and because the leeches already had mimicry capabilities, it was able to revert his age to his youth. The outfit was certainly intended to resemble the traditional imagery of Jesus due to the overall theme of death and rebirth that Marcus had going for him. I don't think his design is that out of place considering everything else the series has to offer. Pretty much all the villains stand apart from the protagonists in one way or another. Particularly the Ashford twins, Sergei, RE5 Wesker, and nearly every villain in RE4, although Saddler would be the closest comparison since he was another one with obvious religious symbolism which was heavily reflected in his design. But at least Marcus still looks like a normal guy who just so happens to have a more unusual outfit, so I wouldn't view him as being any more outlandish than the others. And since the outfit does make sense thematically, it's not like he has it for no reason. I personally don't see an issue with it.

Nope, that's exactly what happened. Marcus became so angry and passionate in that moment that the queen leech started to get riled up too, so it ended up taking over without him having expected it. He was especially caught off-guard because he most likely didn't realize the queen could even do that, since he was confident that he was the one in control the entire time.

nope wrong..Marcus is dead. This is the Queen Leech who just transformed. She fed on Marcus genetic material and supposedly his brain and memories so this being became "Quasi"Marcus and set the things in Resident Evil in motion.

The part of the flashback when his body was shown was from the perspective of the leech, where it’s clearly shown to have entered his body upon noticing him. It did not attempt to eat him, nor would it make sense that it spent ten years eating his corpse only to one day decide that it actually was him and was going to get revenge. Marcus, or the queen leech as some see it, clearly remembered this portion of the flashback where the queen entered his body. Why would the queen leech remember this yet believe that it truly is him while knowing so vividly what actually happened? It should know very well that it simply started mimicking him, if that were the case. Furthermore, it stands to reason that the queen leech would never actually attempt to feed on Marcus given how much it cared for him. The queen, and all of the leeches, were said to harbor a genuine affection for Marcus. This was the reason he could experiment on it without harm in addition to why the queen specifically chose to leap from the table and follow him after his death, no doubt having hid inside of his clothes to evade detection. Naturally, it must have fallen away from him after they were dumped in the treatment plant, but once it found him it went inside of him and began the process of merging their DNA over that lengthy time period. This is just as the scene showed, the unique healing properties of the leech in combination with the T-virus were able to halt the decay of his dying functions and they instead began to recover. This would mean that his brain almost certainly resumed functioning, as well, which is why his memories and personality were still intact. Marcus’ body was definitely still a part of this assimilation. The queen remained inside of it and only altered his internal structures over those ten years so that it could change his form freely, in which it obviously chose to take on the appearance of his younger self. But given that so many of his genes and his own body were still here, it doesn’t make sense to assume the leech just became more intelligent and eventually decided it was him. There was no reason for the leech to become more intelligent from this transformation, it had nothing to do with his brain other than halting its complete death. But regardless, both the bodies of Marcus and the queen were certainly a part of the final product, and the thing that makes the most sense is that Marcus’ own mind was a part of it as well. Certainly, the man we see in the game was confident that he was, in fact, Marcus. There's really no reason the queen would believe that unless it was true to some extent. Anyway, a leech can’t spend ten years eating a body. Even if bioweapons still do get hungry, one body was never going to last that long, so the queen clearly could survive without sustenance and had no actual need to feed on him. Besides, his leeches only drank blood, and he surely couldn't have had all that much left after the assassination. It makes sense that the queen didn’t even bother to waste its time, although it almost certainly wouldn’t have even if it could have.

It believed itself to be Marcus himself, reborn by divine intervention. Over the next ten years, the Leech developed the ability to change its body shape into that of Marcus' . In May 1998, the Queen Leech finally acted on its plan to avenge Marcus' death. Taken from the Capcom Original Resident Evil Guide

And because Marcus is a man smart enough to learn from his mistakes, not only would he have better weapons than her, he would have had a bulletproof vest too so those base Majini wouldn't even know what they're hitting. How did Rebecca survive getting shot by Wesker in RE1? She sure isn't going to survive against the Majini with guns, her bulletproof vest is a lie unlike the OP one Marcus could have had if she didn't ruin everything. And she might think she's so tough having that Jail breaker shotgun, but she only has that because she broke Billy out of jail. Why didn't she do that for Marcus??? 🤔

I hear he took on an entirely new identity and personality and became a criminal in his golden years, so she can just redeem herself by breaking him out of jail too. Rescuing Marcus' son is her only path to redemption at this point.
