1) Recommend that you DO NOT use Dorman or aftermarket crush washers, they're not the same as OEM and inferior. Toyota crush washers are only a couple dollars for a whole bag. 2) DO NOT follow the video at 5:50 regarding the engine oil filter installation (new), you want to PRIME the oil filter, fill it to near the threads/top, let it sit for 5 minutes, you can dump the excess back in to another container for later use, that will avoid dry starts for the engine. About 1/2 - 3/4 full won't make a mess when you install it and you will have a nearly full oil filter and more accurate reading post oil change. 3) The OEM drain fill plug bolt torque spec is 30 lbs, sometimes you will see 20 lbs. The bolt is relatively soft and 30 lbs of torque starts to goober up the head. 25 lbs is good, but I keep some extras on hand if the bolt starts to look not so perfect, cheap insurance at re-install if its looking a little haggard. 4) 2023 Camry oil level check is to bring the engine to operating temp, shut down, let stand for 5 minutes, then check the marks on the dip stick, Lower Level = Low, Upper Level = High, so you want it right in the middle. That's a little different than most in that it's not a Cold / Hot engine mark.

My daughter just got a 22 Camry and paid for a service plan. She went to get the oil changed at 5000 miles and the dealer said they only change at 10000 miles. So looks like I’ll be doing hers at 5000 and dealership will do every other change. Ridiculous that they say 10000 even it’s well known the damage it causes long term. Just one instance, Toyota oil has nearly twice as many dry lubrication additives than Mobil 1 oil. The oil is awfully dirty for 5,000 miles …. 5 quarts is too much. You should put in 4.2 quarts, check it when cold, then run it for a few minutes so it can go through the filter. Turn off motor & check again in about 5 minutes so it can settle & add accordingly. You never want to overfill the oil because it can cause problems.

You never wanna go over the full mark. It is the best to stay a little below the full, there is not a solid answer of how much is too much, but the full mark is there for a reason, for peace of mind you should never go over. too much is as bad if not worse than too little.
