I thought back to this when this was announced for Fortnite Festival, since Hard charts there are 4-lane versions of the 5-lane charts. Maybe one day someone will rise up and crack Unplugged/DS customs and we'll be having some real fun. By the way, there is a Fortnite Festival clone called Encore for this type of chart but it has no lane-switching mode.

This is why I almost never use my actual name for video games, instead using a completely different (usually the “canon” name for the character or a feminine Japanese name): in case I ever start streaming and so might risk getting doxxed! Well, that, and the fact that I often play visual novels that take place in Japan, and it’s kinda weird to have a bunch of people with Japanese names saying “Brian”. And it’s better to use an alias for MMORPGs, anyways. And I prefer playing as a girl, especially in RPGs, and it’d be weird to have people calling a girl “Brian”. And because it seems wrong to have Link be called anything other than “Link”. And because I misunderstood the instructions when playing Paper Mario for the first time as a kid and thought they were asking for the character’s name, which I thought was kinda weird since everyone knows his name is Mario, and the game says his name is “Mario”, but whatever. And because I liked using the special characters like the A button icon or ß or γ or music note. …Okay, maybe it had nothing to do with concerns I might eventually be doxxed and more to do with me being a quirky kid, even after I grew up. But still, my identity will be protected should I ever start streaming because of that!

1. I don't believe that changing meanings of colors in the bi flag was necessary. I think we as a society should move away from pink = women, blue = men. 2. I was excited to see Ace and Aro flags and I am a little sad to see them not being here? I am curious as to why 3. As a trans person I don't really enjoy the look of the trans flag. I think the colors are too dark and muddy? Also I think connecting pastel colors to babies is kinda out there, sorry.

Due to an influx of hateful comments from people who likely didn’t watch the video, I’ve cranked up the comment moderation. People really want to be oppressed so badly-I literally made it clear that I’m only touching up LGBT flags and not the tangential flags, and a whole bunch of people with an unhealthy attachment to whatever label they dug out of a ditch when they were 12 complain about “exclusion”. The Q-slur continues to hurt and exclude people to this day, and should have never been used as indiscriminately as it is today.

The main problem with this entire project and presentation AND especially how you respond to criticism is that you clearly think you know better than everyone and if you had a button that turned all existing pride flags into your designs, you would do it without thinking about the people that are happy with the flags they currently identify with and the cultural impact those flags have had up until now.
@haleyhalcyon

Funny you should mention “turning all existing Pride Flags into a new design without thinking about the people who are happy with the flags they identify with, and the cultural impact they have had until now”, because that’s exactly what they did when they replaced the rainbow flag with the regressive “Progress” flag.

I’m genuinely confused about this. Living in North America, some people might use Queer as a slur but the majority of LGBT people are reclaiming it. Personally reclaiming a slur is more effective than trying to ban the use of it, because banning anything has never worked before in human history. I don’t understand why you and OP are so against reclaiming a slur. My understanding is you are not familiar with the concept
@haleyhalcyon
@haleyhalcyon 2 ай бұрын
It's very extensively documented that the Q-slur is a slur, and continues to be today for many. The activists of yesteryear specifically chose it for its offensive and provocative nature. Oft-overlooked, denying that the Q-slur is a slur is tantamount to denying the history of LGBT people before us and the oppression and hurt that they have surmounted to bring forth the rights and protection we enjoy today. Nobody is entitled to decide that someone is q***r against their will.

Hi, those are very interesting ideas you have there! 3:42 While flags are used to create and "distinguish" a community, people also deserve flags that they feel are closer to their identity. I think sub-labels should keep their flags. A pansexual person is a bisexual person, and so is an omnisexual person. However, someone bisexual is not necessarily pansexual, or omnisexual. I think it's the same reason as to why you made a flag for non-binary people ☺️ 13:35 The original rainbow flag being loud and vibrant actually makes a lot of sense, considering it is the PRIDE flag. But yours is still pretty vibrant so that doesn't really matter haha, I love the way you brighten the green and blue colours. 15:23 The issues with "unstraight" lines is that it would be harder to makes merch or anything related to the flag since there is no colour "order" anymore. But I do agree that in term of symbolism, it's more interesting, the flags also feel a bit more eye stimulating! 17:58 OMG thank you so much for giving the colours more contrast I love that change. Never knew it was an overlap! I like the bi triangle, I never heard about it either So many interesting ideas for the trans flag! 28:51 Just a question, is this flag only for LGBT people or for LGBT+ people in general? As in, asexual and aromantic, for example? Because if it is the first, it feels a bit excluding and has no reason to exist, considering the pride flag already is a thing 😅 31:26 Wouldn't cutting the non-binary flag in two make it... more binary? Sure, those parts are uneven, but there are still two parts. Maybe you could try make it look less like there's a "cut"? If we ignore that, I like the design! (I also had a question, I hope I'm not being offensive, I see you censored q----, why is that? Is it a slur? English isn't my first language and I thought it was simply another word for "part of the LGBT+ community" 😅)

*Bisexual sub-labels:* The problem with those sub-labels is that they are born out of the biphobic assumption that “bisexuals only love binary gender”, which not only is inaccurate to how bisexuals are, but also denies the history or bisexual activism. “Pansexual” is at this point more often used than “bisexual”, and it’s like they think it’s a dirty word. Bi people already face so much erasure from non-LGBT people; I don’t want to encourage erasure from LGBT people too by legitimizing those labels. *color order:* The United States’ flag also has no color order and has a complicated design that isn’t all horizontal stripes. Yet there is no shortage of Stars and Stripes merch, like hats and cutlery and everything. “It’s harder to adapt to merchandise” is a moot point, and it just tells me that the flag is more creative and artistic than the horizontal stripe flags. *LGBT flag:* The LGBT flag is for lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and trans people. The extra labels tacked on after the T have been campaigned for, often in very toxic ways, but it only server to make the campaign and mission of LGBT rights more scattered and defocused. Not every minority needs to be LGBT to be taken seriously. Not every label is about sexual orientation or gender identity. “Asexuality is a sexuality” like irreligiousness is a religion and celibacy is a sex position. There is no place on Earth where it is legal to be asexual, nor you are at a systemic disadvantage simply for being asexual (and not for being single for life). *nonbinary:* I find it much less “binary” to have a cut off-center, but it’s not really a cut if you look at the middle stripe that connects the two. *the Q-slur:* The Q-slur is an offensive and highly charged anti-gay slur. The loudest activists have rallied for “reclaiming” it, but they ignore or flat-out deny that it continues to be a slur that is used to hurt LGBT people to this day. I say f**k that. “Q***r” is also linked to a well-documented history of advocating for pedophilia. Q***r theory first broadened the idea of “q***r” away from just homosexual, to include any sexual behavior deemed socially unacceptable. Unfortunately, that was done in order to include pedophilia. Prominent q***r theorist authors such as Michel Foucault, Judith Butler, Pat Califia, and Gayle Rubin have all advocated for the rights of “boylovers” and/or the lowering or abolition of the age of consent. The Q-slur is so loaded with past and present baggage, that I believe the best course of action is to keep it taboo and forgotten, and turn it into a thing of the past, not keep the wounds open and freshly vinegared, as well as inject new political and exclusive connotations to it, further confusing the question of what “q***r” even means.

I think i definetly agree to a point with how pride flags are in some part made by some pretty awful people, but i do think alot of the flags here shouldnt really be changed such as the rainbow flag due to it's history Personally i like the gay and les flag redesigns. the one design though that i think is 1000% better than the original is the enby flag, but idk how it would look as a literal flag irl. but on the other hand flags like the transgender flag are too bland and the bisexual flag "feels off"

This was a lovely exercise however it rubs me the wrong way that you find the q word so abhorrent; when it encompasses the wide LGBT+ community without singling out any groups. Also it is the term used for academic study and research. And maybe this is a language/cultural barrier thing because you're the first person I met that finds a word that's so comforting to many, to be just a slur and not a descriptor for the community.

there are many reasons these flags will never be accepted but I think the biggest one is that, for the most part, people really love and identify with the pride flags as they are now. Why change a flag that is broadly popular among the community it is meant to represent? The trans flag in particular is totally beloved by the vast majority of trans people! We don't want to change it!

I for one would not like to use a flag created by an underwear fetishist who admits to have stolen her mother’s underwear, then escalating to random women’s at the laundromat. It’s also infantilizing that she chose baby pink and baby blue to stand for baby girls and baby boys. If lesbians can change a flag because of personal distaste for the creator, I can too.

The entire Hamtaro series of portable games is underrated. Seriously, unless your favorite TV show as a kid was Hamtaro or Dragon Ball Z, you WISH your favorite TV show as a kid got video games as good as the Hamtaro games. There's an educational shovelware-quality game on PC, too, but even that has a Lemmings knock-off in it that you wouldn't expect from a game of that quality. Who clones Lemmings for a shovelware game? Satoru Iwata and Shigeru Miyamoto were producers on many of the games, including this one, Ham-Ham Heartbreak. After Ham-Ham Heartbreak, I think the rest of the series would be developed by AlphaDream, who would develop the Mario and Luigi RPG series.
