I have a 5600sxt. Flow rate was 0.0 per diagnostic check, so I just cleaned out the control valve assembly and made sure there were no built-up iron deposits remaining. I put it back together and, still, flow rate is 0.0. When I turn a faucet on, the flow indicator (water droplet icon) does not show up, and the "gallons remaining" number does not change. I can successfully run a regeneration cycle and everything works (brine draw, fill, etc., with a good float assembly). What is my next step? I think the control valve assembly is in good shape.

Thanks for posting these videos, it taught me a lot. But... I followed all the steps in both videos and no luck. When i had the drain flow button out, I did get draw. I changed the brine valve for like $15, still no luck. All the parts in the backwash injector assembly were very clean even when i first opened it up. So I ended up buying the main piston assembly with seals and spacers for $70. I honestly didn't think it would work. It did. I have brine draw again. So if you try all the tips and still get water flowing out to the salt tank during BD, as a last resort I'd suggest a new main valve. BTW, my main piston a green top and the one i bought from amz was white... it worked fine. Maybe i'm missing something there, but it just seems ok.

I've never had any errors with the unit in 15 years, but is it time to swap out for a new 5600sxt. If I do decide to swap out, should I buy the entire device, or do you think I would only need a tank? Thank you for any help you can provide.

Hi! It really depends on water quality and water usage for how long a system may last. The only way to know it is time for a new one is when the old one goes out on you. If your current system is running fine, there's no reason to upgrade just yet. Whether you buy a complete new system or just new resin is up to you! There are benefits to both, such as new warranties on a new system or saving on cost by doing just resin. Feel free to give us a call and pick our brains regarding your situation. I have the same unit that the clock is set to 24 hours instead of 12. How I can change to 12 hours.( I can not see the pm icon)
@AplusWaterLLC8 ай бұрын
It sounds like the display format on your system is set to Liters instead of gallons. You will just set the clock to 12:01 and hold both arrow buttons down until DF LTR pops up. Change this setting to DF GAL and the clock will read in gallons and the 12 hour clock. Give us a call if you're still having issues!- Aplus Water
@johna.ludwig23118 ай бұрын
First of all, thank you for making it clear about the 12:01.......I tried with the correct time of day with no success. The rest is programmed ok but how do you program the NUMBER OF GALLONS BEFORE REGENERATON? Mine just has four dashes. - - - - What does that mean and how do I program it?
@AplusWaterLLC8 ай бұрын
The number of gallons should automatically be configured based on the capacity of the system, the hardness of the system, and the reserve setting. If you have the hardness cranked way up and the capacity set way low, you will experience the dashes. I would double check that your settings are set accurately. If you are still struggling, give us a call! - Aplus Water

Thank you very much!!! Took a while to find your video. Everyone else was telling me to flow out lines that are probably blocked. Did two regular regeneration without using a shop vac to suck out the water to be below the float. I have three tanks total, two control heads but I believe the one that looks most similar to yours is a double unit and step 2 is brine/rinse. Jumped to that and see movement down in the brine well which I wasn’t getting before. Might not be fixed but thanks for providing an alternative troubleshooting method that sounds like I should have tried first if it’s that common

Does Fleck sell a wrench to remove the head assembly? I have an oler model, and even after releasing pressure, it's on too tight to unscrew by hand.
@AplusWaterLLC10 ай бұрын
Unfortunately there are no wrenches to remove the valve. It sounds like yours may have been overtightened when it was installed. Most of the time, the valve unscrews fairly easily by hand. I would say keep trying your best, but be very careful not to damage the threads of the tank! If the threads are damaged you'll need a whole new tank. If you end up installing a new valve (or reinstalling your old one), be sure to only put the valve on until it is snug and secure. Also, be sure to not use any sort of pipe dope or teflon tape on this connection. A little lubricant and some elbow grease should get the valve on just tight enough to have a secure connection without making it impossible to remove the valve in the future.- Aplus Water

@@AplusWaterLLC Thanks- maybe I'll use a strap wrench. That Fleck 5600 SXT digital head you have here... would it be a direct swap for my old motor-drived 14-day Fleck brine unit unit, so I can keep the old tank, which still looks good? The old Fleck had developed a hairline weep leak, I'm tired of hearing the little clock driver motor, and the unit hasn't been serviced for years so I need new beads anyway. While I'm at it I'd like to update the head unit. My other option would be to not use a softener- I've had this one on bypass for the last few months, now I'm toying with discarding/gifting it or fixing it up.

Are the valve heads interchangeable for a softener to an aio? For example, could you use the 5600sxt softener valve for an aio if you reconfigure the program and add a check valve where the brine draw would connect?
@AplusWaterLLC10 ай бұрын
Hi, The valves are built very similarly, but to convert the softener valve to an air injection valve, you would need to reconfigure the programming, add a check valve where the brine line connection is, replace the flow controls to suit the difference between the softener resin and the filter media, and add a check valve to the inlet side of the valve (to make sure your air pocket does not escape). A lot of times, it ends up being fairly close (if not better) in price to buy a brand new system than try to convert everything over. Hope that helps!- Aplus Water

Is this the same type of valve that’s used for an air injector for iron filters as well as softeners?
@scottcarter997511 ай бұрын
I am so confused! On the hardness setting. Our hardness is 2.5 grains per gallon. I understand that three is the maximum you want. Our iron is 0.15 ppm. I understand that 0.3 is the maximum healthy. These numbers are so different from your description. Am I misunderstanding something? Thanks.

Had the 64,000 unit, it has run 2 cycles since it was installed about 3-4 weeks ago, last cycle a couple days ago. Level fills to about 1100, now down to 90 in 2 days, also says "rc" with blinking water faucet, what's going on? Of course always on weekend when you can't call anyone.
@AplusWaterLLC Жыл бұрын
Hi, "rc" stands for reserve capacity. This means you are currently using the reserve of soft water that the system has built in through the programming. This is just to ensure you do not run out of soft water halfway through the day. When you see "rc" a regeneration gets queued up to occur later that night, hence why you see the blinking water faucet. 1100 gallons down to 90 in 2 days is really quick. This could be correct if there are a lot of people using the water. If you haven't already, though, I would double check that the programmed settings are correct and your hardness number is accurate. If everything looks accurate and you don't have a ton of water usage, check for leaks throughout the home (possibly a leaky toilet or something like that).
