Nie wiem czy posiadasz jeszcze ten samochód, ale na urwaną klapkę jest jedno sensowne rozwiązanie - wymiana na roletkę zasuwaną z poliftu.

This video answers some questions for me. I watched the old B&W war vintage videos and imagined these had nice sounding little 4 stroke engines. They were apparently 2 stroke, and I think drive power engaged via centrifugal clutch? I’m also wondering about drive system workings? I grew up farming with 1939 Caterpillar D-4 tractor for power. Caterpillar drive had rigid rear axle. To steer you pulled individual clutch levers to disconnect power to one track. If pulling a plow under load that was enough to steer it down the field. If sharper turn was needed, especially for maneuvering on level ground with no drawbar load, you then stepped on individual brake pedal for that track to slow or stop it. Oliver Cle-Trac crawlers had a rear axle with a differential gearing between the 2 sides, so steering was accomplished simply by gradually applying brake on one side to slow that track, AND causing the other track to speed up. This system eliminates the need for individual clutches on each track, but adds the need for differential gearing that is not present on Caterpillar system. Can someone tell me what make / horsepower engine was used in these Goliath tanks? I’m guessing they must be 10-15 horsepower by watching them perform and guessing at weight & power needed. Also specifics on drive system. I’m guessing they have a differential gearing system and simple on / off individual brake for each side? What do these braking systems look like? Were they solenoid controlled? Hydraulic? Was there any proportional control? Or were they simply stop / go on each side. This video seems to show operation is rather herky jerky, I’m guessing steering is done by very tiny applications of left / right brake. If one track stops for more than a split second these things would spin donut circles and tear up control cable. One video mentions they were uncontrollable in combat due to concussion from bombs going off and damaging relays. I wonder if throttle control was proportional or simply high speed to engage and low speed to stop / disengage centrifugal clutch? Like a snowmobile? Did Goliath tank gas engine also drive a DC generator? or was there an onboard battery to supply steering / throttle control, and of course detonation? I’m assuming the long reel of control wire was only control voltage for relays? So there must have been an onboard source of electrical power?

To answer your question the sd kfz 302 e was electric and powered by two 2.6k motors and yes both versions had batteries in the area directly above the bottom track. Also ther was little in gears and even then they were fixed.

I wonder why do a small remote control car will weight so heavy, they should have done research on the material used, so as to reduce the fuel needed and the cost of production and most importantly the weight and mobility of the tank. It may be too unnecessary to have a tank of such high quality just to drive a few meters and ultimately explode itself
