These comments are silly and show some serious lack of understanding. Particles below 20u will generally be in suspension in oil. They will cause wear BUT being overly restrictive will cause over heating, who cares if the engine is clean then? Filters do not even work for 60-80% of the cars run time, the bypass will be open at anything over ~1000-1500RPM as the PSI will be 12-16 ish (for some), open in any case. The most important aspects of a filter are 1)Cold start oil retention and high flow. 2)Low restriction at higher RPM 3)Filtration at near idle 4) Capacity.

ATF is not a divine recipe! If a fluid meet bunch of requirements like viscosity, freezing boiling point etc. then it's gonna simply work as oil pump is happy and pumping and the gears lubed against wear, torque converter generates the torque it's supposed to, then what's left? ATF isn't far from the conspiracies around us we see these days in food and medicine just to milk the shit out of people. I replaced my BMW fluid for $40 with Maxlife and been running for a six years now for almost 50k miles while if I were to go with ZF fluid it would've costed me over 400 back then. My brand new 2023 Tacoma has only 3300 original miles when i purchased it last year.Is it safe to switch to Amsoil signature synthetic at this very low mileage without having any transmission issues? Thanks!
@Best-Synthetic-Oilscom3 ай бұрын
@@edwardoperez1663 Short answer - YES. Automatic transmissions go thru their own version of "break-in" during first few thousand miles of use, where the clutch discs mate with each other and shed the very thin top layer of material. This dust-like material gets into the fluid, and by changing the fluid after this break-in process, you get rid of it and allow the newly added fluid a much cleaner operating environment. I usually change the fluid again at least 2 more times (drain and fill) and if possible, change the filter on the 3rd service. I try to space the drain-and-fills out about 15,000 miles each, but that should be adjusted based on condition of the fluid coming out. After you complete the 3rd service, and assuming you are using Signature Series fluid, you may never need to change it again, depending on how you drive it.

Thanks for your video. Two times I've tried AZO and had bizarre results. 2007, I switched to AZO in my 02 Volvo XC70 2.4 turbo and the oil bogged my engine down so much I kept thinking my parking brake was set. I quickly replaced the oil with some other synthetic, back to normal. Freaked me out. I tried AZO again a couple years ago in 05 Infiniti FX45 and the exact same thing happened: engine bogged down and I kept thinking my parking brake was set, it wasn't, then I blew a head gasket. Coolant went into the sump. Thankfully AZO is so tough that I didn't ruin my bearings before I could resolve the problem. Hello I want to know which one you would recommend in my 2000 Harley Davidson Dyna. The DOMINATOR® SAE 60 100% SYNTHETIC RACING OIL or SAE 60 100% SYNTHETIC V-TWIN MOTORCYCLE OIL. I don’t care about it being wet clutch compatible because I won’t be using it inside my Primary and also my transmission. I will solely be using this oil for the Engine ONLY. If you can give me some insight I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!!
@Best-Synthetic-Oilscom6 ай бұрын
Thanks for contacting me. First: Why are you using an SAE 60 oil in your engine? Is it heavily modified (high compression, high rpm, alternate fuel, etc), or does is use / leak a lot of oil that would push you into that heavy oil? Since you aren't concerned about Primary or Transmission, you can really fine-tune your engine oil for max performance and protection, and that might not be SAE 60. The lower viscocity of oil that you use, the easier it will start, the sooner the oil will flow to the top of the engine, and the less power you will be losing to friction created by the heavier oil. The RD 60 Racing Oil is also several dollars per quart more expensive, and it is formulated for extreme conditions, including high compression / high rpm alcohol fueled engines. I'd like to hear more about your engine and how you ride it before I make a more definite recommendation. Tom Brown 678.787.3028

@@SimpleMistaken Ok thanks. H-D's nearly 25-year old recommendation for SAE 60 was 3 years before they released their own Screamin' Eagle Syn3 lubricants (2003), so all of the recommendations were based on their conventional oils available at the time. If you really wanted to dial-in your oil viscocity, start with 20W-50 (like AMSOIL MCV) run it for an oil change interval, and at the end of it, submit an oil sample to a lab for testing. If the viscocity held up (didn't shear down too thin), then you could try going to a LIGHTER viscocity, such as 10W-40, and repeat process. If the 20W-50 did shear down too thin, then go to the SAE 60, and I'd start with the Motorcycle oil first (cheaper) and only go to the RD60 as a last resort. The lighter/thinner oil you can run without doing any damage, the better your bike engine will run (less internal friction) and the longer it will last without suffering from cold-start wear caused by thick oil. I have been using amsoil OE motor oil. The oil level remains full for the entire 6,000 miles. Can the European formula last 12000 miles or more? I’m close to that and worry that it’s too much for it And is the signature series better at protecting the engine? Is the reason of using the European formula just to protect the catalytic converter or is it to lower emissions for European regulations?
@Best-Synthetic-Oilscom Жыл бұрын
The AMSOIL European oils are formulated to meet the applicable European emission requirements and the change intervals are matched to the longest interval specified by the vehicle OEM. If a Signature Series and European oil from AMSOIL both meet the oil specification for your vehicle, the Signature Series can be run for either 15,000 miles / 1-year (Severe Conditions) or 25,000 miles / 1-year (Normal conditions). The European oil can be run to the longest OEM interval. In general, the more expensive an AMSOIL product is, the longer the change interval.

@Best-Synthetic-Oilscom Жыл бұрын
You could, but you shouldn't unless no other oil of lighter weight (lower viscosity) will provide the protection you need, and you will only really know that by conducting oil analysis. If you use an oil that is too thick/heavy, you will pay a viscocity penalty in the form of less power due to increased internal friction from the oil, and accelerated wear at start-up on a cold engine. Additionally, if your engine is equipped with catalytic converters, the RD series racing oils could cause harm if used for extended periods, as they have zinc and phosphorus levels that are above the limits for street engines.
