When Walid commented on how "Mediterranean" the West coast looks there it reminded me the time when as a tour guide I was driving around the Athenian riviera with a Californian lady and she effortlesly said "that looks like Malibu". I then replied "well, it's Malibu for poor then" as we were at the peak of the Greek crisis back in the day. It's a shame I haven't visited USA yet to see it myself. Sorry for the off topic, great video as always - thank you!

This conversation is so refreshing. Thank you🩵. This topic is so important. It's wild that so many people are willfully blind. I see so many women and woke people that are so worried about the right wing in America turning this country into a draconian Christian theocracy like the one portrayed in "Handmaid's tale" when little do they know or care that Margaret Atwood drew inspiration for the novel directly from the real lived experience of the Persian people when the Iranian revolution happened and the Islamic regime took over, executed anyone who questioned their authority and is a foreign occupying government oppressing the people in Iran. The west needs to listen up and get educated about Iran's story and understand that Iranian people are oppressed under the corrupt Regime/Militia. Free Iran. Educate the West. I hope we wake up before it's too late.

I would love to see someone like Nerdeen Kiswani from Within Our Lifetime come on and have to sit and listen to you both and your lived experience. She is used to snowing uninformed college students but I have never seen her talk with experts like both of you. I would be fascinated what she would say when confronted with your knowledge and expertise.

Excellent episode! In response to the question of why Iranians can see the truth despite being oppressed by the Islamic regime while Americans can’t see it despite living in a free country: I think the answer is the guilt factor, which you covered in this and other episodes. Guilt that people are told they should feel and act upon is proving to be a very effective weapon. Thank you for these videos!

We really need a coalition of the Middle East to happen. The people of the ME need to be united!!! We need to sit down and talk strategy how we are going to create a better ME and how to move forward from this point. We cannot rely on most of the governments and regimes here, but we can rely on ourselves. We are the Middle East!!! Not our corrupted leaders!!! I also reply a lot to add a bit of traffic

The moment the Iranian people will take back their country, it will be the moment the Middle East could start healing. It will take a long time, but at the end of it we would have a better Middle East.

Such a great discussion. At one point Gazelle is talking about studies around the "diaspora wars" and the similarities with the soviet union. I've tried to google it but didnt find it... Do you have an article or study to recommend? Thanks for what you're doing.

I believe part of the confusion is because a lot of the people on the left see every argument as an answer to the extremist right instead of an argument on its own rights. So concessions and nuances seems pandering and giving window to support actual American imperialist realpolitik actions and race gender politics. It is essentially a devolving back to a muckracker culture of who screams louder rather than any sort of valid constructive discussion trying to understand issues and counterpoints before positioning yourself.

Thank you for this. As a Lebanese, it frustrates me how our historical ancestry is constantly being oppressed to push this pan-arabist narrative. Anytime we try to say we have ties to our Phoenician culture we are shut down. Even thoigh we have so much evidence and ruins that confirm we are not arabs and have our own history.

I've been following this woke evolution of indoctrination and anti colonization rhetoric for more than 10 years ago, and i've been hating intersectional feminism (because that's where it evolved from) as far back as 2015. Because it puts everyone in collectivized groups based on race, sex, etnicity and divides them in stacks of morality. Ethics of individual actions and atrocities are reduced and recognized as group rights. Groups are designated oppressors and oppressed. And the more oppressed you are, the more morality gets inverted, because the ethical red lines that are drawn for groups that are "oppressed group " are widened, to the point that there's nothing an "oppressed group" can do that you are allowed to considered as harmful. Because civilized decency is now decided on who does it. In the 90s I thought we were on our way to organizing universal values of basic human dignity. If people all over the world could come together and could agree on enlightened values of liberty , freedom of mind and consciousness and living without dehumanizing dogma's then we could get there. It's not like that in a lot of countries still because of leadership corruption and religion that is blocking the way. But I would have never thought that there was going to be an academic faculty , dedicated to the dismantling of enlightened value because it criticizes all our great philosophers. All these social science courses ending with "studies", is basically a cynical criticism on how the west has progressed, because basically Shakespeare, Tocqueville, Locke, or Kant were racists, sexists and lived in a time of colonialism and therefor all what they said was to serve white occupation, and to oppress other identities. That is such a reductive and simplistic way to look at the world. And then come the post modernists with their "everything is about power", and "there are no truths", while at the same time the intersectionality took this idea and say that each race has it's own consciousness. So these people create more division and tribalism. We're at a point now that colourblindness is seen as racism, and the muslims hook in on this and say that secularism is just a religion of the western world that they have to overthrow. None of these people are at the right side of history. All they do is teach younger generations on how to be opposed to eachother again based on tribalism and etnicity. And the jews have been categorized as white. In fact here in Belgium (and also in the netherlands) , they started using a special word to describe "white people". And whenever you see that word in the media, it's always in a negative context. They'd never say "whte man invented a way to collect plastic waste from the ocean", no: it's always "white people have to listen, there's too many white people at the university, white people are inherently racist, white people this, white people that". This already goes on for years and if you see them using that special word.... I'm not surprised at all that impressionable children have been made to feel guilty for everything that has happened in this world ? Also given the fact that the woke always make it seem that history started with the trans atlantic slave trade. Or never talk about arabic slave trade etc.... No, the pure evil in the world are white and jewish people. This is the morally reduced worldview this generation of young adults have now. So no, no surprise at all that they're now trying to revolutionize the universities... that taught them to be activists and marxists... instead of teaching them true skills. Luckily not the entire university is hijacked, because it's mostly coming from social science faculties. Not the tech ones. But here in Belgium: it's these people who demand that universities cut all ties with researches in Israël, so they try to infiltrate and erode. This has to stop.
