I tried to follow along and did the best I could. I was able to build both gears, and After figuring out the differences between moving the origin and the new translate option, I was able to move the gear. But after that I couldn't follow along anymore because a lot of the features have been changed or renamed. I got to the copy of the borehole, and couldn't go any further because I couldn't figure out how to do that.

Anyone watching this in 2024, OnShape may have changed the way the second revolve works (the ‘cut’ revolve). After adding the second polygon to sketch 1, I had to edit the original revolve and only select the inner polygon. Otherwise the default behaviour seems to be to revolve the whole sketch, including the newly added shape. Thanks for the tutorial, really learning a lot from you 👍

Awesome Tutorial. Thank You ... Just personal insert ...if in average most of Your viewers agree, I would drop the music. With music, it sounds less professional, and more as TikTok video, but the way how You are explaining the topic is Absolutely Awesome, Thank You Again :)

Hi, thanks for this video! Question: How would I design a piece that is moved linearly by this gear? Is there a way to create the same module for the linear piece as well? Trying to make something like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHu0hoGpg5uGpZI

Could you start by wrapping a cylinder instead, and afterwards change the top diameter, so it becomes a cone?
@ronhollenbeckАй бұрын
Thanks for sharing this. It was quite informative. l noticed that at 9:00 that the stack of 3 holes leans to the right a bit. When the rectangular pattern was rotated when making the last two holes it was left at a little more than 90° which caused this.

On your slotted cone, could you start with a wrap on a cylinder and then use the draft function??

I've been using 3D Cad since CadKey6 Dos, Alibre, SolidWorks, Fusion 360 etc. Have been messing with Onshape for a while now and keep getting blown away at how good it is, the future in bright for 3D Cad as I've seen a great deal of structured progress with this software. Sick of the expense of SW and the constant bugs, keep up the good work Onshape. BTW, this is one of the best tutorials I have seen by far :)

cool vid, but how do u drag the gears in the assembly?
@MoMadNUАй бұрын
Without Mate Features, left click and drag will just move them across their sketch plane. With Mate Features, in this case Revolute, left click drag will rotate them

Thank you for posting this. I am learning Autodesk Inventor CAM on my own. Coming from a background of 10+ years of using SolidWorks and CAMworks, I've noticed that the terminology and ways to do seemingly simple tasks are sometimes way different between the two. Your video helped to push me in the right direction regarding understanding the engrave/trace/slot terminologies. Even though I am deeply rooted in the metric system and usually can't visualize how small or large a measure in fractions of inches is, I still learned what I needed to learn from your video. I may very well need to watch the rest of them, as you explain in a calm and understandable way.

Thx for the video. It helped me a lot. But the Method doesn't work with a cone and letters combination.

I was about to comment that there is a slot feature in onshape, but i have no idea when it was added, could be well after this video was created. Regardless, one does exist now. Edit: oh, guess it was in there at that point.
