The first album was great. Watching this video and some others it seems this band had "The Cars Fever". Great music but not charismatic enough to carry it live. For a song as great as this the band should have more energy. The two news guys have the most energy.

Certain songs have that distinct beginning to recognize the song....Nowhere girl is among the best. B-Movie is underrated 80's band.

I have this megamix in my iTunes collection, mis-labelled as coming from the UK compilation "The Height Of Fashion", but a bit of research on discogs reveals it was the b-side of the US promo 12" single for "Love Shadow" (Arista SP145) - where rather than a condensed megamix its mis-labelled as being the full 3 separate tracks from which its made up (2.54/8.44/3.08) a total of over 14 mins! Considering the primitive megamixing technology & techniques of 1982 its well made & holds together remarkably well.

Great to see them back. Vocalist used to have more passion and sharpness in tone. Why not keep the snap? This song should never show any sign of fatigue. NewWave was one foot in present and other today. The new generation is young and on fire ~

Truly the most hauntingly beautiful song of the 1980s. Whenever they'd play it at dance club back then, it seemed transcendent to me. I still get chills.

I Can't believe radio are still playing this great song. Listen to the lyrics, and you will see that It Is about a Guy who Is In Prison. He Is In his Cell and has Pictures of His Girlfriend all around the walls, even X-Rays. So All he can do all day Is W**k. And face he pulls looks like He Is Turning Japaneses. So now you know, next time you hear It have a little chuckle to yourself. Good Yeah!
@LanaScott8 ай бұрын
The song is nothing about that… i might be wrong but I’m pretty sure the song writer said the lyrics of “turning Japanese” didn’t really mean anything at all, and it just sounds catchy, and this song is about being broken up and turning into something you didn’t expect to, and they were slowly going crazy after the break up

I’ve seen Metric 5 times and the Doomscroller tour was amazing!!! Emily is on fire and in her essence! But I did travel down to Louisville, KY, to see Metric in June 2018, from SW Michigan (maybe 5-6 hr drive) and it was the smallest venue, which allowed me to literally only have two people in front of me near the stage….and not that pack ed a crowd, so no one was requiring you to feel the need to keep your space or area. Amazing!

Got the 12" of this when I was at Uni. I used to turn off all the lights in my flat, lay on my back in the middle of the floor and crank it up to max. Happy days. They sound brilliant now, not lost it at all. Superb 🥰🥰

I once called either KROQ in Los Angeles or 91X in San Diego to request this song back in the 80s. The guy that answered the phone said he wouldn't play it because it was a stupid song. What an idiot. Not only is this a great song, but it's one of the best extended versions that I've ever heard.

Love how they include the long instrumental buildup. The version played on the Top 40’s stations where they jump to the vocals are so jarring for this beautiful song.

The singer Andy 'nakanza' Manning disappeared off the face of the earth and save for one other single after Boom.Boom Room he never recorded or released a song ever again..very VERY weird. The guy had talents.. maybe one day we'll find out where he went.
