sometimes i wonder how much it would cost and how long it would take to build maps like these in real life
@gratlerАй бұрын
after going back and forth for a while with chat cpt i think i finally got somewhere close to a realistic estimate: Final Cost Estimate with Marble and Aesthetic Finishes Adding everything together: Basic Construction Cost: $1.32 billion USD Marble Coating Cost: $80 million USD Lighting and Special Effects: $10 million USD Other Aesthetic Finishes: $5 million USD Total Cost=1,320,000,000+80,000,000+10,000,000+5,000,000=1,415,000,000 USD Total Cost=1,320,000,000+80,000,000+10,000,000+5,000,000=1,415,000,000 USD Grand Total: Approximately $1.42 Billion USD With these luxurious marble coatings, lighting, and high-quality finishes, the real-life replica of "bug100" would cost about $1.42 billion USD to construct.

I know these videos are old but you're my go-to for Quake playthrough videos. I love your skill, commentary and the memes (the watcher part made me lol). As a casual player I didn't know about the 2nd part of the map, now I have to replay it again!
@JoshGreenburg3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! I wouldn't mind doing more but I've unfortunately don't have the time to play, route and record as much as I used to. I did my best to try to give a concise/planned playthrough because as a casual observer some blind playthroughs were annoying to watch, especially long unedited segments where someone is wandering around the map for 30 minutes trying to find all of the secrets. Not that blind playthroughs are bad, they're actually quite helpful to the mappers, but I wanted something a little easier to watch and somewhat entertaining to pay tribute to a mod that rekindled my nostalgia for a game I grew up playing. I have played plenty of other new packs/maps, but I just haven't dedicated time towards making videos to cover underdark overbright, the dwell episodes, the halloween and joke jams or alkaline. I'm just happy there's a very dedicated community that never seems to run out of really great maps/mods.

@@JoshGreenburg Yeah i understand completely. As we get older and our lives change, time for these hobbies/things can take a nosedive. I agree on what you said for some other videos. Even if if itsn't a blind playthrough, the commentary allows you to understand much better what is going on, what a certain trigger does, etc. When watching someone shoot a switch in a "silent" playthrough, sometimes it just isn't clear what it does, especially if it reveals something later on in the level. But yeah, the Doom and Quake communities are amazing in their longevity and love for the game. I really enjoyed UDOB as well, though I haven't played the others you mentioned yet. Either way, cheers and have a good one!

@JoshGreenburg Жыл бұрын
I would like to but unfortunately I don’t have free time available to dedicate for more 100% playthroughs as I have done in the past. I may do some nightmare blind-runs with light commentary as those are less time-consuming and have more value to the mappers wanting to see how their maps are being played.
@mcbain257 Жыл бұрын

What a skill man! Very nice AD playthrough. I'm a newbie playing Quake, could you tell me what are your bindings? you are very agile in changing weapons
@JoshGreenburg Жыл бұрын
1 = Axe, X= Shotgun, C = SuperShotgun/WidowMaker, Z = Nailgun, F = SuperNailgun, 4 = GrenadeLauncher, Q = RocketLauncher, E = Lightning/Plasma gun are the binds I use. The keys are all surrounding WASD. They obviously don't have to be those keys, as long as you do what naturally makes sense to you(my binds mimic what I use in Quake Live). After setting up the binds, you won't be immediately used to it, but as you do, you'll start to switch weapons without even thinking about binds or trying to cycle through weapons.
@Luizlccn9 Жыл бұрын
@@JoshGreenburg thanks a lot man, I gonna try these binds and replay some maps.
@Luizlccn9 Жыл бұрын
Btw do you intend to record more Quake?
@JoshGreenburg Жыл бұрын
@@Luizlccn9 At the moment no, mostly due to limited free time, although I've been playing the Explore Jam 3 and having a lot of fun with that, but there isn't a lot of value in recording those playthroughs in my opinion, I think that pack should be experienced first hand. When I do get some time, I wouldn't mind releasing a few Quake maps.
