Hi Brett! I started building out my track framing them out like floorboards, but yours seem much simpler. Did you find you needed any additional support for you track? I believe my ride vehicle is a little wider than yours-it's 3 feet across
@pixelvisioner
@pixelvisioner Ай бұрын
If you will be using the same components as I did it should be fine. I placed the bolts holding up the track a little bit closer together on the turns for extra support. Just make sure you build the floorboards wide enough for your ride vehicle to turn without having the casters fall off the edges . Do you have the ride vehicle built yet?

Hi this is amazing Brett it really is. Can I just check. On the video I’m Sure you said that you were building four foot by four foot sections but the section you show on the video seems to be only like 500cm x 500cm or less? Can you clarify for me please.
@pixelvisioner
@pixelvisioner Ай бұрын
Thank you for the kind words. I bought 4’x8’ sheets of flooring board and cut them in half for most all of the curved sections of the track. The some of the straight sections I was able to use 2’ wide pieces since the ride vehicles were narrow enough to still ride safely on. There were other sections of the track that were different sizes to fit the area I had available for the ride. Thanks for asking

@ thank you so so much! By the way, if we wanted it to travel backwards as well as forwards have you done this if so do you have a video as we won’t be able to have a track running in a circle so would need to go into reverse and wondering how it would be different. We are truly inspired by your videos and we are going to build one like yours but that goes into reverse !
@pixelvisioner
@pixelvisioner Ай бұрын
@@dhm74 I have not done that. If you want to make a ride vehicle that moves both ways on the track you would probably need to move the drive motor assembly to the center and have a second tracking swivel in the back as well and lots of testing of course to get it right. You would also need to figure out how to make the power reverse maybe through a switch or something else.
@dhm74
@dhm74 Ай бұрын
@ thanks Brett. Not sure if my reply loaded or not. I thought with it being from parts to a mobility scooter they go forward and have reverse so should be possible! And yeah that’s a good idea - two sets of tracking and the motor in the middle with some adjustments could work. Think it could also be thrilling for people going backwards. Have you ever tried doing them on an incline or decline as think I’d need mine to travel down a slope as my garden is on two different levels. Could make for a scary thrill ride haha
@pixelvisioner
@pixelvisioner Ай бұрын
@ No haven’t tried an incline for vehicle tracking and binding issues with the current system I use. Not to say it can’t be done, you would need to engineer a different setup where the tracking component can tilt up/down as well as swivel, an you may need to have some type of suspension so the caster wheels will stay in contact with the ground

heyy brett, long time no see or hear from you, but here i am, back from the cavern heheh :P. i have 2 carts on my system, it works well, so my arduino system is finished, but i had a problem with my 2 carts, so i have multiple times disassemble the carts, 1 time to test with a system with ir sensors (not succeeded), and 1 time to lower the pvc track, and set the wheel more to the middle of the cart, so it will not have to much trouble to go forward. but now, as i go inside the ride vehicle with no track, it spins, also with my 120 kilos, very fine, but put it on the track, the cart stucks, and the motor will make a heavy noise, and will not very good forward. so i think, it has trouble that there is 1 wheel on the left side, and not on the other side, so it will spin to 1 way, and not straight forward, and when it was tracked, it stucks on the pvc pipe, when it goes 1 way up, and the motor had more trouble to go forward, when it will just spin, do you have tips for me? is there a way to go from 12v to 24v? or does the cart having also troubles to go the way forward? i think that if the motor have more voltage, it has less trouble with giving the cart much current, in a bigger voltage room. or is it better to go to a transaxle 24v? i have bought a mobility scooter last christmas, i go in it for a spin, and disassemble it completely, with only the motor, i test it with my motor driver test 1 finished, when the wheels was not touching the ground, test 2 failed, it gives a little spark before the test, and when i test it, and encrease the speed, it blows up, and smoke came through it. i have set the fuse too high, on 30amp, when it have for the max of ampere on 15, so that was my fault. but i will give it another try, but now i don't disassemble another good mobility scooter, but i buy the parts on ebay, with wheels and motor on the transaxle, and put the fuse much smaller as before heheh :P. but, i have seen, that the cables on the mobility scooter, has much bigger, than my own cables, i think 5 or 6 millimeters difference (i think ?). is this a problem to put smaller cables on it? or has to be the cables the same size? and further on my project, my shooting system must wait, i wanted to be first completed my normal track system and cars, and then i go further with the other things. but i have 1 new system, a transfer track, so that i can put a extra cart to the track, or remove a cart, and put it in the storage. i don't think i see that a lot at darkrides, more at coasters, but certainly not at homemade darkride systems at all! so that is another milestone in diy dark ride history ;). i have another question to you brett, i now follow you a couple of years, with pleasure, but i haven't seen a new video of the darkride on your channel, i want to see how you're standing in the darkride community, but i understand that it have some troubles, and other things going for the other. but also that you can't wait for my system to go it for a spin, i also can't wait to see your system to run :). long time no see, and hopefully not the end of this journey with this nice contact of us. i will see you the next time, and i'am glad to hear from you. greetings from holland. Hi Brett! Sorry another question: I’ve been working with a pride mobility scooter, and have been working with the components keeping the computer. The problem is my potentiometer keep seeing to fail, and result in a six code beep. Did you run your potentiometer straight to the power? What are drawbacks of this method? Thank you so much!
@pixelvisioner
@pixelvisioner 8 ай бұрын
No worries, please ask as many questions as you like, I’ll do my best to answer them. So Im assuming you are using the potentiometer that came on the scooter along with the breaker and fuse. The 6 beeps signifies that the throttle is not in the neutral (center )position when you power up. When I first tested my ride vehicle I used all the original equipment so I can easily change the speed to see how everything worked. It’s great if you are making the ride for yourself, but since I had many different riders I opted to only use the drivetrain and added a separate speed control to regulate the cars at one set speed. The speed control received power through my RF on/off switch, which connected to the batteries with a breaker and fuse from the scooter

@@aligoss6793 haven’t had a problem with overheating since these drivetrains are made for continuous use and have no duty cycle. You could try to find a replacement potentiometer online or use the system I have set up. Also you will not be running the motor at top speed. I myself run my ride vehicles at 1/4 or less of the maximum power to get the speed I need.

I built the majority of the ride under 3 10x 20 canopy's and the rest went through my garage. I made this daytime ride through video to show all of the detail you can't see on the night time ride through as the camera can't pick up enough light to see it all. I've been really busy the past 2 years and are hoping to film some more updates as I get back to building my new ride system which has been on hold all of this time. As for the ratte-ly sound on the track I had to use paint with sand grit to give me even traction along the track floor for the rubber tires on my transaxles and the plastic caster wheels supporting the ride vehicle got kind of loud . I tried using rubber caster wheels but the grit wore them down pretty fast, so I went back to the plastic ones.
@PoleTooke

@@pixelvisioner that makes sense! So cool that you built this yourself! Perhaps thin rubber strips along the sides of the ground track could help? Looking forward to seeing your updates when you have time again 😊

Hi there, glad to hear about your basement attraction! The first question I need to ask is what are you planning to use for the Lead vehicle? Second, what did you have in mind for power to run it(batteries/on track power?) Also, are the rear passengers small children/adults/mix of the 2? There are several types of track design you can use for this depending on your skill set/budget/layout.

@@pixelvisioner Thanks Bret. I was thinking the lead vehicle to be electric powered as essentially a tow vehicle, but guided by a track, just because it sounded simpler to make? 3 total cars, lead and two getting towed which can carry two people each. Could be any mix of all adults or occassionally children as well. I have built several houses, restored several and workshops etc and done all the electrical and plumbing myself,so I have decent skill at it, but still dont want to get too deep into the woods in complications either. Is a track powered vehicle better? I dont want to need a person at the podium controlling the ride. I would rather control it on the ride in the lead vehicle.
@pixelvisioner
@pixelvisioner Жыл бұрын
Okay, I understand where you are going here. If you want to keep it simple, I would suggest finding a mobility scooter that has a weight capacity of 600lbs and use the drive train, wheels/tires, electronics and batteries and build them into your lead vehicle. As far as a track design, you con use either track types that I have used , or have track sections made out of 1/4" steel and have the turns bent at a steel shop. As for tracking of the vehicles the design I used in my first or second ride vehicle designs should work fine.@@diyoregonnowtexas9202
