For over 40 years theoretical physics has followed the idea of simplicity and a "last theory" and it lead - nowhere. Nothing. Nada. Failure. Nonsense. And then a retired theoretical physicist claims "the path has lead to nothing, lets follow it further". What a hybris. Prof. Turok you are wrong. Let us stop riding dead horses. Thank you Neil for such a nice and elegant explanation of the current state of physics, and thank you Perimeter Institute for putting this on KZbin. I myself am an electronic engineer, didn't have time nor financial possibilities to do a PhD in physics, but I "managed" to write five books on a topic, which cover all science and technology from light to optics, sensors, compressions, communications and all that a modern system designer should know. The point of my comment was to whole heartedly agree with Neil about modern physics complicating the reality more than what Nature has really made it to be. This actually tells me that we have some fundamental errors in our perception of atoms, electrons, photons, gravity. Many question that were posed over 100 years ago - are fundamentally still not answered correctly. Yes, I admire Maxwell, Einstein, Schrodinger but that doesn't mean they have answered these fundamental questions correctly if we are still asking them 100 years later. This lead me to do my own research, and found some amazing physicist who have been completely and unjustly ignored and silenced by the "academia" . His name is Dewey B. Larson. After reading all his main works, starting from "Nothing but Motion" - I can't escape the feeling that Larson has already answered all the big questions fifty years ago - yet he is completely ignored. I would like to know if Neil (and/or the PI) know of Larson's work, and if you do - why is this not taken more seriously? If a person can derive theory of gravity as well a complete Periodic table of element from his basic postulates of motion - surely he has some value that needs to be looked at and acknowledge.

I liked Damian's contribution as well, but I must say it was not Einstein who 1st thought of photons not just as waves but as physical packets. If I remember correctly it was Newton. First, Newton = light is made of small particles. 2nd: Thomas Young (1801) = light is a wave. 3rd. Einstein = light is quantized, but it's both a particle and a wave. The more i learn about quantum mechanics the clear it is that it is only an approximation. You cannot have a probalistic wave function result in deterministic behaviour without some form of mechnism to convert the two, probailoty is useful as a tool to describe things with unknown mechnisms, this feela like the case with quantum mechnics.

In a material sense, what is this fabric of space? If it were possible to shrink and stand atop an electron, would that electron be hollow? And furthermore, what would you be standing on? My hunch is the ultimate mundane simplicity of the universe is that it just...space. Even the material component of an electron, which can not be broken down further, is simply that the subatomic particles are folds of space....folds in that perceived nothingness we call space. Physics will not reach a paradigm shift or total understanding until we can answer these two questions. What is space? What makes a particle something separate from space instead of something contiguous with space? Intuition tells me that particles are indeed space that is folded. It is the particles that exist in 4 dimensions that we can understand. Space and space time are not 4 dimensional. It is the action of matter in it that shows a four dimensional nature to this fabric of space. Space is a probability field and particles are events occuring within the topology of space. Space is also superdimmensional and isn't constrained by four dimensions. The particles, since they are events within that fabric are constrained by the nature of their existence or the way they are folded. Thus, that is why we have different kinds of particles. These are different propating events that were set in motion....like a loop that can roll down from one end of a string to another, to make an analogy. Space has more than one "side" to it. We are unable to see the other sides because we are made of and using things made of particles constrained to three dimensions. The fabric of space is not constrained to three dimensions and can be as high as 15 dimensions. It is the particles that function in four dimensions only that are the issue. The fabric of space needs to be understood. Once we know all we can about the particles and of energy...and finally can make sense of it all, we will finally see that elephant in the middle of the room... Most of the Cosmos is space. Most of an atom is space. Out of a vacuum virtual particles occur. Zero point energy is real. It is the nature of space that we do not fully understand. But how do we study the void?

On the one hand Turoc seems like a pretty good guy. I think Turoc's overcomplicating because he's fishing. Applying all these terms and theories placing boundaries of conjecture on descriptive terms of attempting to explain reality with hypothetical conjecture for research funding possibly? There's no way space can warp at all. Only energy can bend and warp. The opposition of empty space and vaccum energy is in contradiction to nothing and something . The yin yang theory applies perfectly in simple basic terms to everything in the universe from one or more angles but not every angle in infinity where infinite numbers of observation real ,theoretical ,and hypothetical coexist within a wave function of infinite possibilities of infinite branching and more infinite growth of exponential fractal complexities tied into everything about reality and imagination. Differences of opinion are an example of branching symmetries fractally splitting and becoming different yet retaining characteristics of the whole while being seperated also! So the universe contradicts itself. And so does reasoning within our minds. And our existences are part of a contradiction process between something or energy,and nothing or the void of infinite empty space. There is general relativity and our macro views and perspectives of reality and time vs the quantum reality and what it defines in explanations where humans are limited attempting to define the submicroscopic universe from those angles as our particles are combined and more so but not entirely locked into the macroscopic experiences of reality. We sense time differently than submicroscopic particles based upon the slowing of matter and sensory inputs and time over distances as life processes signals and input over distances where time comes into play more slowly regulated in speed by the concentration rates of spatial locality times densities of matter in a volume affecting time's rate of passage for decay due to how tightly matter is packed. The main point is all types and methods of reasoning thinking is a living variable of accuracy or innaccurate opinions that comprise one wave function related to whether any opinion is more or less right or wrong. You might naively expect........I think Prof. Truck is in for a rude awakening. The universe is vastly more complex than his closed mind can comprehend. Take the scientists that looked at our DNA, they discovered chemicals in 3.5% of our DNA and described the balance, 96.5% as junk DNA. Take the study of the cosmos, our scientists cover up ignorance with using terms that are full of, "We don't know what's out there but this sounds like we do", like Dark Matter and Dark Energy. It's mostly smoking mirrors with the God's of Science. Speaking from personal experience I've talked to scientists and said I can see energy everywhere, around trees, people and just about every object. Sometimes I'll see other dimensions and even portals/wormholes. But can I prove it, then I realised, why should I, if these people have closed minds, let them be. But now things are moving to another level. I discovered that Time isn't linear, again through experiencing it as a single moment that I simply call NOW. Plus it can be measured as Planck Time, the length of time it takes light to travel across the diameter of an atom. In a single second this works out at 14billion X 10million times. Each one of these Planck Times is a separate parallel universe. But they appear almost identical to the previous and following parallel universes, giving the illusion of linear time. Then I experienced Space/Distance as an illusion also, that there's a single moment, HERE. This explains Einstein's Spooky Action at a Distance, he was right. So although we experience time as linear and Space/Distance as vast, everything is HERE NOW. I've only started, there's way more Pro Turck. Things are way more exciting and we're the one's behind it all. 💥

There is no boundary to the universe. It's infinite because it's emptiness. Nothing or a vaccum is the basic foundation of everything. The void is causal to the existence of vaccum energy which sort of fills the bowels of the eternal empty void which is timeless. Automatically. The vaccum energy is also a second type of infinity which is infinite energy. That is causal to the creation of matter . The wind in infinity of eternity. The vaccum energy is connected throughout infinite distances and thus has mass although it's diffused and spread infinitely thin. The interconnected mass of vaccum energy must thus collapse instantaneously to forcibly create a singularity ,one of an infinite number of them spaced across eternity . Within the singularity a finite amount of infinite energy outside of temporality will thus collapse into the gravity well and begin to cook and create heat energy as vaccum energy will be compressed approaching yet another third kind of infinity fractally . Once a threshold is achieved the singularity cannot handle all the infinite vaccum energy spread out over infinite distances. So the singularity would thus expand and explode. Within the explosion all the compressed vaccum energy is solidified and transformed into concentrated energy or matter. From there the concentrated energy or matter begins to cool. The three body problem of physics explains the fractal branching of exponential complexity in math and everything in existence indirectly that is simply inferred. As concentrated energy becomes matter and begins it's cooling process it expands in infinite space and seperates . This causes TIME . And time moves directionally along with the decay process of matter as it expands in an absolute zero temperature over infinitely cold empty space which is very different and an opposite contradiction of the vaccum energy which shares infinity and eternity within itself . ALWAYS. Matter is concentrated energy. As it cools and expands it dissapates and expands to eventually evaporate completely and return to the vaccum of eternity as vaccum energy which is cycular in nature. And causal to morei infinite big bangs with infinite creatures and infinite life across eternity. As matter loses energy at the end of the process and begins to evaporate ,temporal processes cease to exist from the processes of energy conversion ,and the matter life is derived from returns to the infinite void as vaccum energy and the EMPTINESS OF ETERNITY. It's a little spooky too .

Physics science is at a dead end

Second method to create the point particle: It has in the past it has been theorized that gravitational collapse could have set the stage for the big bang. There is a second possibility in that were one to accelerate any quark using all available matter, and energy in any discrete universe one would have the point particle. as this particle accelerates it's path would form a tighter, and tighter curve following the gravitational curvature of space with the final condition conserving all velocity as rotation around it's own axis. One would assume from current observation that this state must be unstable and that what we currently observe is the result of this instability which is exemplified by a lenticular shape to our discrete universeformed of galaxies spread out in spiral arms with each galaxy on a smaller scale also exhibiting similar rotating structures including spiral arms along which stars cluster, down to solar systems again in which all objects exhibit rotation of individual bodies, as well as rotation of these bodies in orbit around steller bodies. I propose that the second method to produce the point particle while just a thought experiment coincides well with all other theory particularly the notion of a body becoming more massful as it is accelerated which was my inspiration for extending that notion to it's ultimate limit. Of note several data zero out at the moment the point partice is alone in thany discrete universe. First it is both at great velocity either linear along the topography of space, or it is rotating at great velocity, but it is also at rest because it is alone in a discrete universe, and there is nothing to compare it to. Second as it accelerates time slows ultimmately reaching zero. There is nothing for gravity to act upon so it's effect becomes zero. Each discrete universe shopuld others exist are defined as one such as ours that will never share a particle, force, or field. Should there exist any shared particle, force, or field between bodies we define as a universe then they are not discrete from each other. Any discrete universe may containe more or less matter/energy, and therefore this higher, or lower aggragate value would be reflected in the maximum velocity exhibited by any point particle it may form. One possible principle for a string theory is that closed strings represent matter whereas open strings represent energy. That is because matter can form when radiations self-traps to become solitons that stand for the electron/positron pair. Then the theory must state the rules of how to transform open loops into closed loops and the reverse. This way string theory becomes a theory of everything(like GR) as the world in effect is no more than matter and energy and the transform between the two.
