Personally, I think ASFA digital would have been a much better option, and being invented in the late 80s was readily available to BR/Railtrack. ASFA offers all the benefits of TPWS and a similar cost of implementation, but on top of this it _also_ throws in driver positive signal identification and awareness checks at no extra cost! 🚥🚄🇪🇸💯👍

I never realised how technical being a train driver was. In some ways it would appear to be much more focused than an airline pilots job

Why didn’t they put the emergency braking so it would stop the train BEFORE the signal. It seems so bloody obvious.

I am not a driver on the railway but I am a rail worker and I can relate to what Mike said about not bringing anything personal to work with you because it clouds your judgement and can lead to a incident that could cause death or serious injury to yourself and or your colleagues

Why was Mike in the rear cab and not proceeding the rear of the train by foot? If he was on the ground he would have had a clear sight of the signal. Seems a bit lapse to me.

Saw a video once of an indian walking along the top of a train with overheads. He put his arm up to use the cable as a guide and then immediately caught fire and fell down dead burning in flames on top of the train roof.

Oh my goodness, there are just too many C**ks why not just remove all C**ks and replace them with valves, it could be all the C**ks are the problem, Too many C**ks can spoil the soup as they say. I really do like trains but, I wonder were they just all drunk after work when chose to name it and call a valve A C**k when the first trains were created, I mean yes you do have to C**K it open but why name it C**K.

All that promise, and they turned out to be some of the worst intercity trains the UK has ever had. Meanwhile, 40 year old HSTs are still going strong.

Absolutely fantastic engineering to put the toilet heater on the same MCB as the compressor for something equally unimportant like the brakes

The BSI is basically an update of the older tight lock coupler. The tight lock is buckeye with an electric block underneath used on older electric units.
@thetrainsrock
@thetrainsrock 8 ай бұрын
Actually tightlocks and Buckeyes are different, and don't like being coupled together. Look at the front of a 455 (as they don't have electrical boxes) and a slam door unit. 455s have tightlocks, slammers have buckeyes, and you'll notice they're quite different

Unpopular opinion, i like the 180. Would he interesting to archive one.... probably wont go anywhere (like most museum bound trains) But i do think they're VERY swanky. But like most fully electronic things they have a lot of gremlins Like the P38 Land Rover Range Rover, and Dyson Fans
