Great video. Lowest I've shot around Highcliffe is 1 under par. Haven't repeated it since. Overall what was your impression of Highcliffe? I'm a member there
@alexwhittlegolf7 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment, appreciate it 🙌 1 under is pretty decent! I quite like it there, the holes are a bit on top of each other but I like how quick it is to get round and although on paper it’s short, it’s definitely a test especially those 2 long par 3s!

Controlled golf over trying to hit bombs and chase distance is what got my handicap down massively. Just realising putting a ball in play off the tee was way better than chasing an extra 20 yards if the dispersion went wild. Then I rely on a good short game. Taught by Kieron Fowler 2.5 years ago and got me from starting to play to a 3 handicap. Basic details taught then I played constantly haha
@alexwhittlegolf18 күн бұрын
That’s awesome progress-huge respect for getting down to a 3 handicap! I totally agree, keeping it controlled and in play off the tee is way more reliable than chasing distance. Sounds like Kieron taught you some solid fundamentals! He's a good friend of mine and I have also had some great lessons with him! We are doing a video soon so keep your eyes peeled for that! Consistent practice definitely pays off, and your short game must be on point. Keep it up!

What’s your strategy when lining up putts? Especially those 6-8 ft right to left ones?
@alexwhittlegolf18 күн бұрын
Normally when I am not filming I will take my time over the putts more and line up from both sides. I also use plumb bob quite regularly. But funnily enough you are spot on with that being my worst distance for putts holed.

Notice how straight he hits it. Not much trouble when you hit it straight. I watch so many videos of players hitting it a draw or fade and they stay in trouble and hit very few greens.
@alexwhittlegolf18 күн бұрын

Looks like you bank a lot on being able to hit the ball pretty straight. Develop working the ball from left to right and right to left when needed. Also looks like most of these holes were straight on.
@alexwhittlegolf18 күн бұрын
Great feedback, and you're absolutely right! I do tend to rely on hitting it straight, but working on shaping shots is definitely something I need to practice more. While a lot of these holes were pretty straight, there were definitely a few where being able to work the ball would’ve helped.
