I live in remote northeastern india. There are many helipads and airports dotted around. Since i was a kid i was interested in the aircrafts that frequently over our area. Ther are mostly 3 types of helicopters that fly around in these area : French Alouette derivatives, Russian Mil Mi 8/ 17 and Indian HAL ALH Dhruv. Due to my keen interest, i can differentiate between the sounds of these three types of helicopters without even seeing them. The rotors of the Alouette have a ringing noise, the Mi8/17 have a chirping sound and the Dhruv have a heavy beating of blades sound (you can hear it in this video if you focus enough). It is easier to figure out if it flies directly over you. I do get confused when a sikorsky, airbus or a chinook flies over now and then though. In fact right now there is a Alouette flying above, most probably performing a routine night training sortie.

Alright!....as you see the date this video has been uploaded 8years ago this Heli which you are seeing is HAL Dhruv in its MK 1 version the very first. These helis had many technical issues which were then sorted in the next versions MK II, MK III. Now many people commenting here are saying that all these helis crashed in Equadore due to technical issues. So let me tell you that it's been more than 8 years now and the MK III is out and over 200 helis are now operational with Indian Army as of 2021. This shows that over the years this Heli as turned out good after many failures. Edit: HAL just Recently completed the 300 helicopter (ALH) production mark!.

This was designed by HAL's in-house dept. HAL is a factory, not very well-known for its designing work. They did collaborate with several foreign companies, MBB and turbomeca. Met a scientist/engineer from their helicopter design dept - wasn't very impressed by her. Like I asked her, 'who did u collaborate with for the design and engine," and she wasn't able to answer. Had to prompt her with, "MBB? Turbomeca?" And then she replied in agreement. Felt like she's demented. I remember, they made this contraption from which soldiers slide down the rope from the helicopter, and that collapsed causing a serious injury to a soldier. Their LCH doesn't hav many takers. They've fitted a 20mm cannon on it, which is inadequate imo.
@uwudoge32083 жыл бұрын
@@khalildas741 Bro the Turbomeca is a French engine which is being license manufactured by HAL now going to be replaced by HAL's own new HTSE 1200 engines and about the LCH you should know that LCH is (Light Combat Helicopter) which is designed to operate in mountainous regions and glaciers where most engines cease to perform it is designed to fly higher than any other Heli in its class. Also the LCH is not for full blown war regions because high altitude regions don't let any armies to go all out with their arsenal. also one more thing it is not made for Export purposes in the first place it is made to fulfill the requirements of Indian Armed forces.

@@uwudoge3208 Have to call spade a spade . Jingoism leads to self immolation . HAL hasn't produced any amazing product . Its a product developed over 40 years that too a mediocre one at best. Privatization is the only pill that can save Indian defense. I have interacted with HALand DRDO people as well. A good number are typical government babus .

I am an Indian and I am really proud that that Ecuador is using India made heli...But I think trusting your President's life on it is a big deal. This may be a good helicopter but India definitely lacks experience. And even the most advanced ones crash too, but Ecuador should be careful with these. Buy these only after extensive trials...
