What people dont understand is that the headlamps are injection moulded from a non UV stable polycarbonate and then coated with a siloxine based hardcoat , when you sand it all off and polish the lens you have in reality exposed the polycarbonate to the elements and it will soon go yellow again but this time it wont just be the coating it will be the actual polycarbonate and that wont polish out no matter how hard you try - its all a temporary fix
@ProjectlaloАй бұрын
@@pauldavenport7403 that’s interesting. I think everyone understands that, with plastic, eventually every fix is just temporary. I think we’re just trying to find the fix that will last the longest

I promise any DIY project is never as impossible as it may seem. Though I understand that this CAN be a very challenging repair for someone who has never attempted any kind of repair before. Keep in mind, this was the first time I ever attempted this specific repair on this specific phone, and also, try everything at your own risk.

Why did he take off the back and not just the front screen, look like all you need is take the front off
@Projectlalo2 ай бұрын
@@metrotcb9560 YES! So if you go to the 12:40 mark on the video you’ll see that the phone is off camera for a few seconds and I explain that I’m feeding the screens ribbon wire through a slot that goes to the back of the phone. So you DO actually have to remove the back cover as well as the battery to perform this repair because the screens ribbon wire connects to the board in the back of the phone. Which is why this is one of the most tedious and annoying screen repairs I’ve ever done. But it was well worth the trouble.

@nikosapostolakis96555 ай бұрын
how long is "the longest"?
@Projectlalo5 ай бұрын
I think you are reffering to how long this method of restoration will last, and that all depends on several factors. How often do you drive? In what conditions? a lot of bugs? a lot of dirt, sand? A lot of snow etc... I filmed this video in 2020 and the headlingts were still clear in 2022 when I sold the car. So at least a couple years for me.
@kensam6845 ай бұрын
Don't you have to spray a clear coating on ?
@Projectlalo5 ай бұрын
So for this particular kit, no. The steps the kit says to follow are exactly as shown in the video. Clear coating is another method by which you could restore your headlights. However, it’s very easy to screw up with clear coating. Prep is everything and if the surface isn’t properly sanded and completely cleared of contaminants then there will be issues. The diy-er could also be too heavy handed with it and get bubbles or runs in the clear coat. It’s a bit harder to do and required more finesse and skill than doing it with a kit like I showed. The results will be about the same if done properly. The longevity of the “repair” will also vary depending on how well it is done with the clear coat. The type of clear coat used also matters. This kit works very well and the results are some of the best I’ve seen and the longest lasting. If I threw a ceramic coating on top it would be even better and longer lasting. There’s a lot of ways to do this. This is just one method.

There's a typo in the video having to do with the grit of sand paper used. In the video I typed "500 grit" for the second piece of sand paper I used when it was actually 1500 grit. so the order of sanding went as follows: 800 grit wet, 1500 grit dry/wet, 3000 grit dry, and finished off with the polish.

Hear me out, life long harbor freight fan, don't use Pittsburgh if its too stuck. We all know quality is expensive. But you buy it once and never again instead of every time it breaks. That's why at least get extensions and drill bits from a top 5 brand. Saves time and money in the long run

I think both microphones sound very different, some of the toner stuff pretty decent for the low price. They have sent me a few of their microphones to review and so far they'll make you sound pretty decent for not a lot of money. I remember when the blue yeti was really expensive well I should say really overpriced for what it is, they're not so bad now but I think they used to be what like 250 bucks or something,..

After millions of dollars of research, the engineers at the Motorola cellphone design team finally found, under corporate direction, that heavily gluing the battery into the case forms a nearly solid substrate through which the maximum amount of force from the inertia of the batteries own weight would significantly increase the odds that the Digitizer would be reduced to glass shards upon impact. As an added bonus, even if they fail to drop their phones, all that glue forces customers to buy new phones instead of just batteries and discard their still perfectly-good-otherwise phones. Profit Mission accomplished. Environment be damned.
