Whenever I do a job with a bunch of little stuff I have to disconnect, I buy a bag of either red or blue elastic bands and wrap all of the little plugs, and hoses with them. It helps to make them stand out when it comes time for reassembly. Good for him though- tackling a project he doesn’t know a lot about. That’s how you learn.

2016 981 Spyder here, I had a 2005 Boxster S for 15 years. Modded with lightweight flywheel, short shifter, exhaust, Bilsteins, ECU. It was like a go cart.

FWIW - My wife has a 2024 MB GLS580 and I have the Rivian R1S 2024 Quad Motor, the R1S is significantly faster than the Mercedes and we end up taking the R1S pretty much everywhere. Torgue doesn't get old, makes it great for road trips and passing.

I tried it! very good for the average driver, but cornering with 7000 lbs is totally unsafe. hopefully we'll have a lighter version in the future, less than 5500 lbs would be ideal. It's so heavy it isn't legal to drive in Europe unless you have a "trucker" license.

If I was in your place I would just have fun with it while it lasts or until you can get rid of it, who knows maybe you can even make some money if the right buyer comes along. But Once you know corrosion got to the electric it's a rabbit hole you are never getting out of.

As an owner of 4 (2 sunroof-2 convertibles) of these, I will put in my two cents. I'm the one in Chesterfield, VA if you remember. Anyway, the airbag battery squib disconnects the battery if there is an accident. Some people choose to jump the yellow connection and not change the entire cable, I did it with the exhaust in place. I have done it both ways. (I had a parts car) Supercharger service is not too bad, just replace the water pump at the same time and a few o-rings that leak. When you do the headliner, check the rubber hose between the sunroof and "A" Pillar. sometimes the are not connected. While it's out, check to ensure the drain is clear all the way, water should run out right behind the front tires. So much to say, but that's the first round. KZbin: Jimmy's 1st Gen. MINI Rescue
