It's great the game supports 2 buttons. Commodore should have been pushing publishers and joystick manufacturers to support 2 buttons at minimum on the Amiga when it was first released (3 buttons should also have been the norm for beat-em ups making them much easier/nicer to play)
@Games-ArcadeКүн бұрын
I always found it strange that even the ZX Spectrum, Amstrad and C64 all had 2 button joysticks that only used one. I agree, a dedicated fighting pad would have been awesome! But hey, at least we are getting those games with the multi-button support now! Better late than never lol

Did anyone figure out the hit box on the owl? Massive sprite, would have been OK half the size. I think this is more like a 60% game than 80, washed out colors, short length and 25 quid back in the day. Compare to shmups coming out at the same time on console, 6/7 out of ten is OK I think.
@Games-Arcade7 күн бұрын
All in all it was a bit of an odd game. BUT the animations on the Owl were superb, the graphics, though washed out were very good, and those loading screens were *Chef's Kiss* at the time, and for an A500 game it was pretty good for the hardware. Would love to see an AGA remake with some actual animated monsters.

@@Games-Arcade yes great points. I don't understand the use of colors, it can be hard to make out the enemies on the backgrounds. I'm trying to get a one credit complete. Overall a nice game, I'm gonna play through all the Amiga shmups to compare.

Superb game. Once you get to the second level, getting past the first obstacle, a rotating wheel with lasers in it, well, that takes some thinking about! I got past it first time by sheer luck, and every time since have failed and lost every single life each time trying to get past it.

Amiga beat em ups are certainly improving aren't they? The little details are such a nice touch. I believe the programmers used a very smart engine, where they don't do straight sprite swaps with different colours but build the characters from a set of differing body parts! That way there can be more variety in opponents with limited memory. Seems PRETTY smart.
@VikingTeddy14 күн бұрын
I'd watch a playthrough :). Looks really fun, too bad my computer died a while back, but I'll enjoy it second hand. I can tell just from a glance that it has responsive controls. Unlike the og Amy beatemups, where your guy always froze for a few frames between commands :). So many unfair deaths...

Oh no! Your Amiga has bitten the dust? That would be so sad. Maybe/hopefully it can be repaired.
@VikingTeddy14 күн бұрын
@@OperationPhantom fortunately not my Amiga, that's still safely stored away in my sons cellar :). I bring it out maybe once or twice a decade to play Moonstone, Laser Squad, and SSI gold box rpg's. It was my PC that gave up the spirit. There's fortunately a recycling center downtown where I can get a decent engine for a pittance.

Thx so much for this nice review ;-) during the game you can collect a treasure map that will open a bonus stage after a boss. you can achieve this by killing 4 enemies in a row (by putting them into barrels in the first place for instance) : 3 treasure chests = treasure map for level unlock! ;-) Keep on the good work on the channel! cya! :)

Brilliant video, thank you very much! Worth saying, that there's a 3rd button mapped on controller (usually right shoulder) to instantly fire a sub-weapon without the press and hold. The motivation for this remake, is kinda due to the original we got for Amiga back in 1990: gave the a wrong impression of the Amiga capabilities to a whole generation of newcomers (specially on emulation era). Speaking of remakes that are fixing the mistakes of the past, I'd suggest to search for Final Fight Enhanced. I liked it, a well made Amiga remake by Brick Nash with a solid gameplay.

One of my favorite NES beat em ups, second only to River City Ransom. One thing I've never understood and maybe you can explain it since you're British. How is using Nunchucks supposed to be more violent then using a Bo Staff, Swords or Sais?
