First game ended because one player thought their start location on the map was not playable, and the majority of players agreed (posted '+' in chat) or were neutral (posted '=' in chat) to restart the game ('re') so that the game could be even and competitive for everyone. both are good games, and are different in their own ways. So you could probably get away with playing both and enjoying them. I prefer civ 5 since it feels a bit like a roguelike game for me, where every game is different. civ 6 doesnt have that as much for me for my own personal tastes

For the reformation, there is no "another player has selected this belief" like founding a religion or a pantheon, so if one person picks a reformation belief and the other player has the reformation selection screen still open and picks it, both can have it. There can even be a scenario where all players in the game could pick the same belief if done right

I try to play as vanilla as I can with the game, so I try not to use hotkeys for unit promotions and such

I did a game where I did an OCC attempt vs 7 AI with total war enabled, I was doing domination, and claimed all caps, however, due to the nature of OCC, the cities disappear, but another AI resettled a city ruins of a previously razed cap and somehow made it so that new city counted as a capital city that I didnt claim, which led to me running out of time before another AI won culture before I could get domination victory. I do have one vs AI with some exploits in a tibet game, can't remember which one it was though, it was awhile ago

no hammers used to making settlers for expands, all hammers can go to other infrastructure or wonders. this makes the potential of the city come sooner by only focusing on the one city. It does lower the overall game potential with less cities, as less cities means less in pretty much all demos, other than sometimes gold or culture, and the playstyle I generally do will sometimes focus on culture on a lower amount of cities. Wonders give great people points, which can give more great people without the limit of specialist slots, so can get more frequently. These great people can give special yields from tiles, such as more science being worked from an academy. Not needing extra workers for every city so no need to worry about more hammers dedicated to expands. When ideologies come, I would only need to get 1 factory up in 1 city. This can save gold or time to build a factory, as with only one city, it will generally be faster to get it going. All trade routes can be sent out to city states or other players for gold generation, which can help. The one drawback of that is the part where you can't send any trade routes back to your own capital with expands, so can get easy growth. With patronage however, with the merchant confederacy, you get 2 hammers and 2 food from trade routes to city states, so its a good offset for that. Making a lot of the wonders can deny others from getting them, and you can get a religion that gives more yield from them, alongside with aesthetics, you get loads of culture and tourism from them, so it can help push a culture victory if no one else can combat you in that form when you could be pushing 1500+ tourism per turn at information tech. Military can be potentially bad if people play to try and kill you early on, though with the right setup and good defensive land, you can sometimes hold if you have decent hammers in your city, where you can one turn military units, as long as they don't have an overwhelming number, or easy terrain to get to you. With not making any expands, you could have more lee way between your empire and adjacent players if they didnt forward settle the empty space, so with scouting you can spot military coming earlier and have a better idea of when an attack could be coming, if you can't tell from technology tree or the demographics screen or the trade screen if their horses/ iron/ etc is being depleted every turn.
